DiCaprio became popular as a teen idol, an image solidified after the
success of Titanic. But it also proved a talented actor in films such
as What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Gangs of New York or The Aviator.
You could say that Leonardo DiCaprio was destined to be an artist
before birth. His mother was given this name by Leonardo Da Vinci,
because when he noticed she was pregnant with his kick as he watched a
play by the famous painter. Encouraged by his parents, DiCaprio started
acting while still very small, and as a teenager made several drama
courses.
It began to appear in commercials and educational films in 1988
and debuted that year on the small screen with a new version of the
popular series Lassie. After getting roles in several television
projects in the following years, eventually became one of the main
actors in the sitcom Growing Pains.

best-selling novel, This Boy's Life, where he appeared with Robert De
Niro and Ellen Barkin.

work earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Two
years later starred opposite Sharon Stone in Sam Raimi's western The
Quick and deadly, and later starred in The Basketball Diaries, the
dramatic and literary biography of rocker Jim Carroll.
Leonardo conquered audiences with his character in Romeo and
Juliet by William Shakespeare, a modern adaptation of the classic drama
brought to film by Baz Luhrmann. Although the film that cemented him as
the star was James Cameron's blockbuster Titanic, which smashed box
office in 1997 and won the Oscar.

The Beach by Danny Boyle.
Besides Gangs of New York, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo recently
starred in Catch Me If You Can, a film by Steven Spielberg featuring
Tom Hanks as co-star. In The Aviator, Scorsese again gets into the skin
of the billionaire and legendary film producer Howard Hughes. A
production that has swept across the box office and has brought her
Golden Globe for best dramatic actor DiCaprio enlarging the myth.
DiCaprio returns to work with Martin Scorsese in the crime drama
The Departed, which earned five Oscar nominations, with Matt Damon and
Jack Nicholson. The actor has been nominated for best actor for his
role in Blood Diamond, a film by Edward Zwick's adventure set in a
Sierra Leone civil war in the middle and opting for an Oscar in four
other categories.
In the sentimental, the break with Israeli model Bar Rafaeli,
after a year of dating, has pilloried the actor, whose private life has
begun to talk. Rumors of an alleged covert homosexuality contrasts with
the intimate relations he had with Vanessa models Hyden, Kristen Hang
and Gisele Bundchen, with whom he maintained a very long relationship
which ended in 2005 after being unfaithful to actress Sienna Miller
(former turn Jude Law's). Today alone, hands full in the night
