Found this very interesting. I know very little about India
Very informative hub-- thank you so much for all this. I too find I am woefully uninformed about Indian history and culture. I remember Nehru's death and the nuclear tests but I know nothing about Indian freedom fighters and the historic war that took place in 1576. I look forward to more from you.
Thanks to all well wishers. Some hubbers are writing good articles on Indian history here alone. Interested people may visit thier hubs. One such important writer I wish to mention is Mrs.Rudra.
The war of 1572was between Rajput king RanaPratap and mughal prince Saleem.Mughal emporrers hadconquered many parts of Rajasthan but They could not defeat RanaPratap. He foghut bravely against Mughals to preserve the freedom of his princely state-Mewad.But ultimately he was killed.
It seems that most heroifigures end up getting killed by either jealous rivals or traitors in their midst. Others are killed because they are fighting for the people, like Robert Kennedy & Martin Luther King, to mention but a few. Mahatma Gandhi also fought for people, and look what happened to him.
I don't know the current status of Gandhi G in India, but here he is still considered a hero for trying to make India a better place by making it united and free. It is also my understanding that calling him Gandhi G is a sign of respect, Is that true?
Yes Chef,Regarding the end of heroes, we can notice two points.
1. Bad heroes(usually dictaters, like Hitler) will be either killed or they commit suicide. No dictater in the world has so far died a peaceful death.
2. Really great people like Mahathma Gandhi etc may get killed because other people cannot rise to their level. They are not often toleratred.
In India Mahathma Gandhi(WE don't address him as G.Gandhi,at any time) is always adored.
May 16th 1960. Telex service! Isn't that amazing. Look how far we have all come in such a short time. Thank you for the news.
Your fan.
