Sexually Transmitted Diseases
63
There are various infections (also called venereal diseases) that can
get by having sex or genital intercourse with a person who is infected.
You can also send the person you are engaging in sexual intercourse,
whether or same / or does.
All persons who have these relations without a condom, are at risk
of becoming infected. Moreover, any person may have an STD / AIDS,
regardless of age, sex, race, place where you live, and so on.
Sometimes we fall into the mistake of thinking that if a person is
"good people", clean and attractive is impossible to have an STD. It is
also believed that only the promiscuous (ie, which have or have
multiple sex partners) are at risk of contracting an STD, which is
false because even if you have only one partner can not be sure whether
this You have been in sexual contact with someone infected, even if
only once.
It is our duty to look after and care for the couple. Therefore it
is important that you have information on the major infections of this
type.
HIV / AIDS
SidaEl AIDS is a syndrome caused by infection with Human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which attacks the system that has the body
to protect against disease (immune system). As the virus destroys the
body's defenses, a person who carries HIV can get any disease, such as
flu, and suffer such serious complications that could kill you.
This virus is transmitted only by:
• unprotected sexual contact.
• Transfusion of infected blood or contact with contaminated blood or blood products.
• Sharing needles, syringes, razor blades or other sharp objects with people carrying the virus.
• From an infected mother to child during pregnancy or nursing
(although with proper treatment can be avoided, a high percentage, this
happens).
• Donation of organs infected body.
The AIDS virus is not transmitted through kissing, shaking hands,
sharing utensils, swimming in a pool, use a toilet, etc.. Most people
who catch HIV do not show physical symptoms immediately and may take up
to 5 or 10 years to develop the disease. However, since that HIV enters
the body the person is carrying the virus, but looks and feels healthy,
so they can infect others.
The first symptoms of immunodeficiency are: weight loss, fatigue,
fever, night sweats, loss of appetite, diarrhea and joint pain. When
AIDS develops, various infections can occur, such as pneumonia,
viruses, bacteria or fungi that commonly are not going to sicken people
with healthy immune systems. May also cause problems in the nervous
system, cancer and other diseases that cause death.
It is important that people with active sex lives have safer sex
practices (using condoms, having only one partner and be faithful) and
performed a blood test for the presence of the virus.
GONORRHEA.
GonorreaEl microorganism that causes this infection is called
gonococcus. In males, these symptoms appear 3 to 5 days after sexual
contact in which they contracted. Early symptoms include burning on
urination and leaving a yellow liquid from the penis (which is not
urine or semen). If not visit the doctor, the infection can reach the
testicles and cause the person from being sterile.
In women it is harder to spot symptoms because they experience no
pain and appears as 10 days after sexual contact, a yellow vaginal
discharge that may be confused with other vaginal secretions. Generally
realize until this infection affects the internal organs and causes
severe pain.
If not treated, can cause sterility and other injuries as central nervous system infections, heart, liver, kidneys and bones.
SYPHILIS.
SífilisLa causes a microorganism called "spirochete." It can be
spread by sexual contact, through contaminated blood or blood products,
or from mother to child before, during or after childbirth.
It develops in four stages:
a. Primary syphilis: its first symptom is a pimple or small sores
called "blight," which appears in the sexual organs. Usually this is
painless and can be mistaken for a scratch or pimple.
b. Secondary syphilis: chancre disappears and 2 or 3 weeks after
other symptoms such as rashes or spots on the palms, back and soles of
the feet. These spots disappear without treatment, but that does not
mean the disease has disappeared.
c. Latent syphilis: In the whole course of the disease, this is
the longest stage, as it takes 10 to 25 years. At this stage there are
no symptoms, so the person can believe that is not infected.
d. Late syphilis: the skin ulcers, deformation of bones and
joints, affects the central nervous system, heart and other organs,
including blindness, paralysis and even death from a heart attack.
Human Papillomavirus:
Papillomas spread through sexual contact without protection. The
presence of this virus is associated with increased risk of the women
developed cervical cancer, so it's necessary medical treatment
immediately.
Women can have on the appearance of lesions on the skin and mucous
membranes, like warts, they grow to become large, if not go to the
doctor / a. The men who have intercourse with infected women also leave
their warts. Other injuries may also occur in internal organs, which
are detected by laboratory tests.
HERPES II:
GenitalEsta Herpes infection is caused by the herpes simplex virus
type II. Early symptoms include pain and irritation in the genital
area, followed by painful skin erosions, which appear as a week after
sexual contact. Usually these symptoms disappear, to be given medical
treatment, 2 or 3 weeks later. This does not mean that the virus
disappeared from the agency, who hides in the lymph during long periods
and then reappears. In these recurrences may be no pain, but it is a
period of high infectivity, or whether they spread easily to people
with whom you have sexual contact.
It is a disease that affects the liver. It is transmitted through unprotected sex, contaminated blood transfusions and the use of contaminated syringes. The most common symptoms are yellow skin, a malaise, fever, abdominal pain and vomiting. It can lead to liver disease including chronic or death from cirrhosis or liver cancer. There is evidence to show that there are as many or more deaths from Hepatitis B in a day than AIDS in a year.
