Windmill-Powered Electric Farm Tractors
Windmill-powered electric farm tractors by Anthony Ratkov
Electric-powered farm tractors can recharge their own batteries with built-in windmills.
An electrically-powered farm tractor can recharge it's own batteries with a built-in windmill. The tractor resembles an ordinary farm tractor, except that it is powered by an electric motor instead of a gasoline-powered engine. There would be no need for the farmer to plug the tractor into an electrical outlet to recharge it's batteries, since the tractor can recharge itself with a built-in windmill. When the tractor's batteries are running low on power, the farmer parks the tractor, and pushes a button. The windmill automatically extends on a telescopic mast. When it has extended to full height, the windmill blades automatically unfold. The tractor remains parked like this for several hours or several days, depending upon the amount of wind that is available.
When the wind blows, the windmill blades spin, and they cause the electrical generator to produce power. The electric power produced by the windmill is stored in batteries inside the tractor. When the tractor's batteries are fully charged, the windmill is folded up, and put back into storage inside the tractor. After the windmill is stored, the tractor is ready to drive again.
This type of farm tractor would not require fuel, it would not pollute the air, and it would not contribute to global warming. It may have practical applications in third world countries, where fuel is scarce.
