1 Awesome Gmail tip You Don’t Know about

There are plenty of Gmail tips you may find useful, but this one is very unique. From just one e-mail address in Gmail, you can create hundreds of variations to send to different groups.

Instead of opening separate e-mail accounts say for work, friends, family, subscriptions, shopping etc., you can use the same e-mail address and create multiple variations from the same G-mail account.

The article gives the following example GeorgeBush@gmail.com. This is just an example e-mail address, I am not sure it exists or President Bush uses this e-mail address. It is just for demonstration purposes only.

To create multiple variations of your e-mail address, just follow these steps:

1. Log on to your Gmail account.

2. Click “Settings” --> “Account” --> “Add another E-mail address”

3. In “Add another E-mail address” step, add the following variations by placing the dots between them such as "George.Bush@gmail.com" or "G.eorgeBush@gmail.com" or “Geo.rgeBush@gmail.com and so on. There is no limit how many variations you can add in Gmail.

4. When anyone sends e-mail to the above variation, you will still get the e-mail in your main e-mail address account.

Another important use in this is if someone accidentally types a period in between you will still get the e-mail. To sort out the variations in the e-mail addresses, just use filters in Settings --> Filters and put every e-mail variation in a separate folder such as “Family” or “Friends” or “Work” etc.

If you don’t want to add a period in the e-mail address, you can also do the same by adding a “+” such as "GeorgeBush+Amazon@gmail.com" and filter it when you shop at Amazon.com. You can use this to avoid Spam, and if anyone other than Amazon sends to this e-mail address, you will know that it is spam and you can delete that particular e-mail address any time.

Some sites don’t accept this “+” option, but you can use this in most sites, if not use the “.” option in the e-mail address and delete it if you receive too much spam from that address.

That is a great tip. In the past, I've set up additional Gmail accounts. Now I can just add the variations to my existing accounts. How cool is that!

Hi Rhym, We can only change the names here, the special lettering we have to write it ourselves. Hope this helps, if not let me know. Cheers.

This is a great tip! Thanks for the Hub! I'm always sorting through email trying to figure out which ones are relevant to work, friends, other activities, etc. I'll be putting this to use today.

Thanks Sdorrian, you can also use Gmail as a backup tool if you use two or more Gmails. You can do this by logging into Gmail --> Settings ---> Forwarding and Pop/Imap --> Forward a copy of Incoming mail to e-mail address.

You can enter the e-mail address and keep a copy at the e-mail address itself. Hope this helps.
