5 Top Rock Venues in the UK
68Wembley Stadium
Wembley Stadium has a rich heritage when it comes to staging world-class music events. From Live Aid to the Frddie Mercury Tribute, fromMadonna to The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Guns n'Roses and many more.. Wembley has hosted the biggest and best rocks acts the world has had to offer.
The new Stadium allows the venue to be easily configured to stage major music and entertainment events. Seats can now retract and the higher roofline of the new stadium and a new purpose-built sound system will all reduce the amount of noise 'spillage'.
This should guarantee Wembleys future as a leading rock music venue for many years!

Brixton's Carling Academy
Brixton's Carling Academy is one of London's oldest rock venues and as well as attracting top names like Bob Dylan, Beastie Boys, Arctic Moneys and Iron Maiden the Academy regularly wins awards such as NME's venue of the year.
Brixton Academy has a reputation as one of the best rock venues probably due to its superb acoustics ( The PA System is fantastic) and sloping floors which you get a great view from pretty much anywhere. The atmosphere is legendary and and performers always seem to respond to this well which has made for many memorable performances.

The London Astoria
The Astoria future is somewhat uncertain despite its standing as one of London's most famous venues as it has recently been threatened with closure. It's certainly not pretty and is is a bit ropey around the edges however its always been popular.
A big selling point at the Astoria is the general admission policy which means you can mov around freely whether is headbanging downstairs or heading upstairs for a better view. The lighting and sound are known to be amongst the best in London the atmosphere is always lively. Due to its size you are never far from the action and there's always the famous Keith Moon bar to visit if you fancy a pint.
Astoria Valete
The Astoria closed in January 2009 - a sad day for lovers of old school venues - but we're going to leave it up here as one of the top 5 venues in London, as it belongs well and truly in the pantheon.
So we've added a 6th review - check out the O2 Arena piece below...
..and in the meantime, farewell Astoria, we loved you!

The O2 Arena
At the Milennium Dome site in Greenwich is one of the capital's newest and most booked-out venues. The O2 is where you'll see top headline acts like Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Elton John, Prince, and it's also where you would have seen Michael Jackson...RIP.
Some say it's rather soulless, but the truth is the O2 as a purpose built space has everything to make a big concert rock your socks off: great acoustics, great views, and about 500 toilets to make bladder-emptying nice and rapid to ensure you get max possible time to mosh.

Nottingham's Rock City
Nottinghams's Rock City is the oldest independently owned rock venue in the UK. George Akins and his team have seen some truly legendary rock nights since the Undertones played the inaugural night in 1980, and the former bakery has been going strong ever since.
In 25 years, Nottingham has transformed itself into one of the country's finest cities for live music, and Rock City has no doubt been a main factor in that progression.

and finally, the Eden Project
The Eden Sessions have now established themselves as essential dates on the summer concert calendar. Bands such as KT Tunstall, Keane, Basement Jaxx, Embrace and Ian Brown have all signed up to play this amazing new venue. The reasonable ticket price also includes a visit to the eco attraction itself which had made it excellent value.
