It's all very daunting when you first start out looking for an opportunity to make money online. You want to find YourNetBiz in a very competitive market with numerous mentors promising you the world to join under them. In fact, I still receive countless emails every day about new and revolutionary ways to make money online, and get tempted by them all. But then I remind myself there really are no quick ways in business to get rich overnight, not even in the global market of the internet.

But, if you understand that making a success of working online is going to take some work, you're prepared to invest your time and money into building a business, then what should you be looking for and what do you ask?

1.) Don't be afraid to ask questions. Remind yourself, it's going to be my internet business, so find out everything your new business will require of you. If there are a number of people or mentors offering the same opportunity, ask them similar questions and see which ones appear to give misleading answers or evade your questions.

2.) Don't feel pressured, this is a big decision, particularly if you buy into a high ticket business, but remember, you can still end up spending just as much on countless $97 businesses trying to find ones that actually work. Be comfortable with your decision and who you choose to work with.

3.) Try Googling your mentor or coach. Do they post regular and up to date articles, videos and information on their chosen area of business. Have they been in business before and understand how to help and guide people. Can they bring something to the table other than what they have read in their chosen business's help guide.

4.) Is this a team effort. If your coach has come in under another coach/mentor, can you speak to him/her if the need arises and there's a problem that can't be solved. Will your mentor freely give you help and advice that isn't included with "the system"?

5.) Is there a plan for getting your business up and running. Is it simple to follow and how soon could you implement it if you had no prior knowledge of working online. If there is a problem getting started will someone be able to help. Do you have access to a technical help center. Will the back office need any ongoing maintenance?

6.) What sets this mentor apart from the others you have spoken to. Can you see yourself working with them? Do they explain things at your level? It's not always about how much money they make, but about how much passion they have for helping other people achieve.

7.) Does the business teach you how to use multiple different methods of advertising? This is going to be the lifeblood of your business. Without the correct marketing skills, whatever you want to sell will not be found by your buyers. Above all else, any business opportunity must be able to teach you the fundamental methods of marketing on the internet.

8.) Is this an automated and turnkey business? If it is and the mentor tries to convince you that it makes it all hands off and you can sit back while it does all the work for you, then steer well clear. Most online businesses have automated systems in place and are relatively turnkey to get up and running, but don't be fooled into believing this means you have to do nothing. Marketing takes time and commitment to get right, and then ongoing work to keep it on top. Your business can't do the automated telling and selling if you have no traffic to your website.

9.) Do they have additional ways to help you make sales. Some businesses offer assistance with making call backs to prospective customers for you. This is a great way for you to keep selling when you may be unavailable to take calls or even if you feel uncomfortable on the phone, you can have professionals answering you customers enquiries.

10.) Do you have what it takes to make it online. If you want to start your  net biz business while still having the security of a full time job, will you devote the additional couple of hours per day to get it off the ground. Do you understand that money doesn't just come rolling in the following week but may start to trickle in over time as your business grows and develops. Do you understand that developing Multiple Streams of Income is an effective way to make large sums of money working online.

Starting and running your own internet business can be hard. My internet business took me months of hard work and frustration to get off the ground, but it was no different to my property ventures in the past. Both have developed nicely into strong businesses that give me a lot of free time to enjoy the financial rewards I make.
