Step by step guide...

I’m often asked how I do what I do when it comes to strategic content marketing. So I decided to write down the steps I take when publishing content online.

What follows is my time-tested 10 Step Process for Strategic Content Marketing:

(1) Create your content. Then Blog it. Blog daily if you can.

(2) Tell the Twitter-verse that you just published on your blog, include the URL.

(3) If you haven't already done this - connect your Twitter RSS feed to Tumblr. This way Tumblr.com will automatically pickup up your Tweets! Otherwise go to Tumblr and repeat step #2. While you're at it, feed other content into Tumblr - consider your YouTube videos and your RSS feed from your Blog.

(4) If you created textual content like an article, submit it to your chosen article directories - I favour ezinearticles.com

(5) If the subject of your blog is 'worthy' or in-demand, create a Squidoo Lens and publish a micro-site. Add your Tweets and your Blog RSS Feed to the Lens for maximum impact.

(6) If you created a Lens in #5, consider doing the same on HubPages.com

(7) Open your browser and go to the blog post - stumble it using StumbleUpon, com

(8) If you created a Lens and a Hub Page, visit them both and stumble them too.

(9) If your blog has a share feature - share your post with Facebook (if you have an account) and any other sites you might know.

(10) And then go back to #1 and start over...

A few additional thoughts:

  • I have Technorati.com linked to my blog so that when my blog changes it tells Technorati.
  • I have Facebook pulling an RSS feed from Twitter so that my status on facebook updates automatically.
  • I have my Tweets embedded within my Blog using an RSS feed too.
  • I connect content wherever possible using RSS and other exposed meta-data.
