10 Things Not To Miss While Visiting Barcelona, Spain
78Well what you can do at Barcelona ? It is your first time ? And you are planning to visit it in 10 days and each day one new thing to do ?
Ok so let's find out what you can do in this beautiful town. Just one question are you most museum, let's say intellectual things or most beer, let's say rumbo chaquala lala things ???
Well anyway don't worry, you have 10 days to discover and if you like it, you will come back for more !!! I will divide in 3 sections - morning, afternoon and night and the starting point will be always Plaza Catalunya (the downtown for me !!!).
In the morning, the 1st thing you have to do it is to wake up !!! I can guarantee you that sometimes is very hard. Well when you are wake up, the best is to take a breakfast to your hotel or outside in a bar. The typical is a coffee and a croissant, you can try the Spanish chocolate, they make it more consistent, I mean it is not such "liquid" but more "solid" and very sweet.
No seriously, the 1st thing to do in the morning is shopping and take a walk. Spanish brand is very cheaper in comparison to the other countries so go shop to Zara, Mango... You have the choice between the streets : passeig de gracia, rambla de catalunya and avinguda del portal del angel. Streets full of different shops and if you like shopping, you can pass all your 10 days here !!! For electronic and computer devices, go to plaza Universidad.
In the afternoon, you can visit the following museums or places. Some places are not very close and you have to walk a lot, take the local transport (bus, metro, tramway) or the taxi. Ticket for transport will cost you 1,30€ (price for 2008, in 2009 it will increase like every year) and the taxi, when you see a green light, it means that it is free and the price depending where you go but it is not too expensive. And of course, you will have to do in separate days.
Here the 8 things you can do and a little more. You can :
Take the touristic bus which will drive you to the most important areas of the town, the ticket will cost you around 20€ valid for 1 day.
Visit buildings of the famous architect Antoni Gaudi like Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo and La Pedrera. The 2 last buildings are very close to the downtown, you just have to walk up the street passeig de gracia during 7 minutes (batllo) and 6 minutes more (pedrera). La Sagrada Familia is an impressive cathedral unfinished yet (not before 2016 normally) and started to build in 1882 !!!
Go down the street Las Ramblas where you will see the famous human statues and make a stop to the market La Boqueria and buy traditional Spanish foods. The street is full of souvenirs shop and by going down you will arrive to the Christophe Coulomb place and the port of Barcelona
Visit the Catedral Santa Eulalia by going down the street avinguda del portal del angel
Visit the museum Picasso and museum Art Contemporary of Barcelona
Visit the Olympic Games site in 1992 and plaza España
Go to Montjuic to visit the fortress which kept an eye to all visitors coming by sea
Go to the beach and lunch there like the famous plat called la paella (one advice if you like fresh food, a paella is done for 2 persons so if the restaurant proposes you for 1 person, they cook by microwave)
Go to the Parc Guëll and if you want more higher, you can go to the mountain to visit Tibidabo.
Visit the Parque de la Ciudad (Park of the town) where you can rent a boat and have a romantic ride with your boyfriend or girlfriend
In the night time, party !!!! Well there are a lot of neighborhood you can go. Of course you can stay close to the downtown and here go to the Born full of bars, clubs (free entrance) and restaurants. Raval (be careful of thieves) with his old and narrow streets where it hides a lot of bars, restaurants and clubs (free entrance). In the rambla de catalunya and passeig de gracia streets are full of place to have a nice and romantic diner.
After diner, you can go to Poble Nou, Gracia and Eixample Izquierda districts to dance, to meet people by taking a nice cocktail and drinks, just walk there and enter to one of the 1000 bars and clubs. Seriously I have no preference since each place has his particularity and the price for clubbing is between 10€ and 20€ (1 drink included).
And to end the night, go to sleep because when you will get out to the club, it will be around 6AM and because another hard day is waiting !!!!
