10 Things You Didn't Know About Barbecue

Every spring people in the United States drag out the old grill or buy that new one they've been dreaming about , stock up on their favorite choice of meat and get ready to produce mouth watering barbecue. But ask yourself how much do you really know about the art of barbecuing.

It was at pig pickings before the American Civil War that barbecues originated in the United States. At that time in the American south whole pigs were roasted on spits over open fires and people would gather from miles around for a taste of the delicious barbecue. But I bet you didn't know that smoking has been used to preserve meat for over 7000 years that we know of and probably longer that we don't know of.

Barbecuing is supposed to be done at around the temperature of boiling water over a long period of time. If you cook your meat over low heat for a long period of time your meat will be juicy and tender. Did you know that over half the marshmallows eaten every year in the United States are cooked and eaten at back yard barbecues.

Here's a tip you may not know. Are you wondering how much propane you have left in your tank just bring your bathroom scale outside and weigh your tank and you'll know exactly how much propane you have left.

Beef Brisket can be delicious but you need to allow at least one to two hours per pound for your brisket to cook. It will take you an average of 12 hours at a low temperature to cook a 8 pound brisket done.

Have you ever tried cooking your cheese and onions inside your hamburger patties on the grill instead of placing them on top of the hamburger after cooking. Bleau Cheese Crumbles and sweet onion cooked inside a hamburger pattie makes some of the most delicious burgers you will ever eat.

You can soak chicken in Italian Dressing over night before grilling for some of the most delicious chicken you will ever eat. Just soak your chicken over night in the Italian Dressing and then sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper when you place it on the grill.

Try stuffing extra thick pork chops with chicken flavored stove top stuffing and grill them on low heat turning often until they are done. Just be sure to sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper while they are grilling.

Try grilling trout stuffed with lemon slices and sprinkled with red Hawaiian Sea Salt and black pepper. Just prepare each trout and wrap securely in aluminum foil. Grill 5-7 minutes on each side for some of the most delicious fish you will ever eat. You can prepare packets of peeled and de-veined shrimp the same way for delicious shrimp.
