Boys will be boys...and boys love their toys...here is a list of the top 10 toys for boys...starting with toddlers. I am a mother of a boy who just turned one and love toys myself! I am a Discovery Toys consultant and am always picking up a toy for him at the store, so you can only imagine what our house looks like (which is why I convinced my husband we need to finish our basement to have a place for all the toys!).

Top 10 Toys for TODDLER Boys

1. BLOCKS- these come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but boys love them all! Toddlers enjoy knocking them down more than building, so any block that is easy to knock over and makes noise in doing so is always a big hit (it may seem like a silly thing to do, but it is still teaching them cause and effect!)....some of my favorites....Baby Einstein Play and Discover Blocks for the little guy - soft and full of texture, Mega Blocks - big Lego's for little hands, and good ol' fashioned wooden blocks - fun to build with and use to bang together!

2. BALLS -football, baseball, soccer ball, you name it - all boys love them! There are the plush balls - good for in the house, sensory ball - easy to grab and intriguing and the plastic balls found in ball pits! You can now get a small ball pit for your kid...I know my 1 year old would love this - he absolutely loves the ball pits at the museums and restaurants...and he is only 1!!! You can make a homemade ball pit too - why not use your plastic or inflatable swimming pool and fill it with some plastic balls instead of water!

3. TRUCKS & CARS- another obvious, but must have for boys...my sons favorites are the Tonka wheel pals - soft, small vehicles that roll super easy, Playskool Wheels pals cushy cruiser pickup - over-sized fun truck that makes sounds when you push the bumper and Parents ready set go cars. And you cannot forget the push toy car or truck...Tonka Driver Wheel Scoot and Scoop is popular at our house!

4. CLIMB AND SLIDE TOYS- what better way to burn energy for little kids...and a lot of the equipment you can have outside during the summer and bring inside in the winter...Little Tikes has a bunch of fun systems that are hours of entertainment!

5. HAMMER TOYS- yes boys of all ages like their tools, and like to hammer - my kids favorite toy is one of our Discovery Toys called Hammer Away - a boat with 4 balls that you hammer in the top and they slide down to the bottom, there is also the classic wooden hammer benches and Little Tikes discover sound hammer that makes fun noises when you hammer with it!

6. FRIDGE TOYS- these are great! Not only do the boys love them, but it is good entertainment when they want to be in the kitchen with you while you are fixing dinner. Hands down Leap Frog is the winner of these...we have the alphabet set and Fridge Farm...both with catchy tunes the little one loves to "dance" to!

7. NOISE MAKERS- Come on - don't deprive your child of these...Little Tikes has a bunch of jazzy instruments - piano, guitar, drums...and my son loves the Fisher Price crocodile piano/xylophone.

8. SHAPE SORTER- another classic, but great toy - they are classics for a reason! There are too many of these to list, but anything from the plastic ball with different shapes, to a mailbox sorter - very cute made by Schylling, to wooden shape sorters - they are wonderful!

9. STUFFED ANIMAL - all boys need a "pal", a soft cuddly friend to snuggle with! You really can't go wrong with any stuffed animal - puppies and bears are my favorite for boys, but be careful....some of the newer ones (that are super soft!) have fur that can easily be pulled out, so probably not recommended for the little kids.

10. BOOKS! - I love books...and so do kids! Classics are a must, but there are a lot of new books out that are the touchy-feel books that little kids absolutely love....my son got one for his birthday from a friend called DOG by Matthew Van Fleet that he brings to me to read everyday! It has different furs to pet, tails that wag - too cute!
