My Top Ten Classic Rock Favorite Songs
It is true that I have about 30 top ten classic rock songs, but doesn't everybody? It is difficult to pare down to 10 favorites. So this hubsite is about 10 of my favorites. Close enough right?
These are some really great videos and I hope you take a little time to check them out, if they are memories for you or if they are new to you. I promise that they will be worth your time to view!
I have a diverse view of what is good classic rock, and classic rock was that diverse. I know that it was a man's world, mostly. There were a few classic rock female stars, but only one superstar, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. If you don't like all her songs just remember that you weren't there, and you can find something of hers that you like if you try. Just remember that Rumours was the best selling album in the history of recorded music up to that time and Stevie was a large reason for that Fleetwood Mac success.
Update: I just broke down and added 5 of my favorite classic rock songs. I urge you to check out these great songs.

I don't have a particular order of favorites here
I really like the David Bowie/ David Gilmour version of Comfortably Numb which was recorded with the best classic rock guitar solo ever. However, he does a good job of recreating that magic. One fellow who gets little respect is Jerry Rafferty but his sound was great.
I know that Stairway to Heaven is the fans favorite and a great song but I like All of My Love by Zeppelin. I really like the Moody Blues and they are not included here but I will probably find a way to fit them in.
Toto was a grammy winning group who had sense to use the synthesizer properly, not in an obnoxious fashion. They had great musical skills.

I guess I am getting old, now that these are considered classic.
Great songs.
Thanks for stopping by guys. I hope you check them all out. Yes we are old.
I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan from way back in the day. Great list.
Thanks Christine, and they are still rockin'!
Hi Gary,
I worked my way through college playing pop/rock music. I like many of your choices, but I like the music my band played. We had to select dance music, both because we liked it and for the sake of our health. Playing in bars, frat parties, ect, we needed to keep them dancing. This wore off their excess energy so it wasn't directed toward us.
We tried to play variety such as the Kingsmen, Sam and Dave, Wilson Picket, James Brown, The Vogues, Dennis Yost and The Classics, The Righteous Brothers, Eric Burdon and the Animals, The Kinks, Sam the Sham and The Pharoes, and many others.
I think one song that surprized me the most was the first time I heard "Loney Boy" by Iron Butterfly. I had difficulty believing that this group could perform such a lovely ballad.
Hi Tom, certainly the pioneers of rock had great songs. The focus I have on classic rock is a focus that is based upon the desire of rock bands to upgrade their musicianship and take from classical music some ideas for songs. Certainly Gypsy and Comfortably Numb were on the level of classical music.
While there is a lot of bad classic rock, there were great musicians in classic rock, and I think for the most part they succeeded in upgrading rock and keeping it going.
