Ok now after RockinJoe wrote this great hub on how to become extremely unpopular at hub pages I felt why not have a hub about how to be popular on hubpages. And here is my take about the 10 ways in which we can become more useful and popular on hubpages.

First of all their have been many great hubbers here who have contributed greatly to this community called hub pages. Each one of these hubbers are masters in their own right. I have identified a few hubbers and mentioned one of their hubs(which I like the most but in many cases I had a huge dilemma since I liked many of their hubs). This list is by no means exhaustive and I am sure their are many many more whom I may not be able to include but due to time and effort constraint (space I am sure is not an issue)...LOL

Their is a reason why some hubbers are more popular and I have tried to zero down to as many reasons that I can (of course their would be many more reasons which I may not be aware of yet since it is continuous learning process). Here are the ways and means which may help us to become great hubbers like them:

1) Be passionate: These hubbers are extremely passionate about the subject that they write and it shows in the output.

Pgrundy (aka Pam) has written a great hub about the plight of the Auto Workers since she has been deeply connected with their lives for many decades.

Marisue is a great lady who has a great heart(taking care of more than 250 foster kids is no joke) and writes with a passion. She has written a personal hub about her experiences being a Cop's Wife which is a must read.

Christoph Reilly who loves dogs a lot has written this great history of Man's relationships with dogs. Please also check out his other hubs(like Scientific talk which is really funny).

GwendyMom has written about this great hub about what she feels about others hubbers and also has made this very participative where hubbers write about what they feel think about each other in One word.

2) Be funny: Write something with lots humor and make people laugh like these hubbers do with their writing. These hubbers with their wit and humor have the ability to crack us up any time.

Sschilke has written this hub in a Question and Answer format which is incredibly funny.

Shadesbreath has written a great hub for us ladies to influence our significant other to Shopping excursions.

Spryte has written this funny hub which has some great dos/don'ts which can be seriously used to call in sick(which even I was guilty of doing once in the last 2 years)..LOL

Sandra Rinck has written this funny hub which seriously we all have at some point or other faced some awkward moments in our life.

Rockinjoe has written one of the funniest hubs which paradoxically he has titled it as the most boring hub...hehe

3) Be creative: Create a plot then write a story or better still write a catchy title(could even be a double entendree) which draws people to come to your hub.

Shalini Kagal has written this wonderful creative story about an imaginary lolla land which is worth reading. She has great creative thinking abilities to come up with such a great plot and treat the subject so well in smooth narrative style.

Pam Roberson has written about the common occurence here, that is hub addiction and the possible cure for it. She has treated the subject very well with her writing and visual imagery which is worth checking out.

Milla Mahno has written this funny hub about Ice creams and how the choice of Ice creams determines the kind of men we like. A very innovative thought and a great intuitive analysis would be provided by Madam Milla at the end.

BT Evilpants is a resident jackalope who has blended so well in his avatar (of course now their is a christmas make over) that the treatment of any subject is guaranteed to be fun. Like I was saying about the double entendree like please grab my wife's "ass" will surely have curios visitors visit at least once.

PoorQpine is another great funny animal hubber(who really has a porcupine soul). It feels very strongly about living conditions of "pets".

MistyHorizon2003 (aka Cindy) is another great hubber (and also happens to be my hub "elder sister") who uses the "bait and switch" tactics to get those curious visitors to visit and then be hooked to her writing style. Well if you want to know what I mean then check this hub about her "tits".

4) Be friendly(and share life style tips& suggestions): Just like we discuss with friends about any new tips/suggestions on food, fashion and fitness(health) here also we can nicely share/exchange with our hub family.

Agvulpes is an Awesome Aussie who shares with us the wonderful Australian food specialties in this hub.

Maddie Ruud has lots of Recipes and hope you get a chance to check out her other hubs too.

G.Ma Johnson has written this wonderful recipe for Coconut Pie which you have to try (I tried it and it was wonderful).

Just Rodney loves to cook and it shows in the number of wonderful hubs he has written about cooking. This one about Onion Soup is also good for colds which one can try during the present winter season.

Vrajavala has written this hub about the wonderful Indian Snack called Samosa which I absolutely love (now for those who say way to a man's heart is through stomach then I would like to add that it holds equally good for woman's too)...hehe

SteveMark has written lots of good hubs about food and fitness(health). Now after all this good yummy stuff above we need to have a moderation. This one is a practical way to curb food craving for those of us who want to lose weight.

Uninvited Writer has written couple of hubs where we don't have to give up our favorite foods like snacks to lower the cholesterol. This hub and other similar hubs are a must read for everyone.

Sixtyorso has written this great hub about why it is important for men to pay attention to Grooming as much as women do(to a certain extent I agree with him)...LOL

5) Be informative: Write more hubs like "how to" do something or provide some practical solutions to common issues (P.S: My Dad once said to me their are no problems in life only opportunities and challenges hence avoided that word "problems")..hehe

Paraglider is a great writer and also a poet. He has written this hub about how to get started Writing Limericks (a sort of 5 line poem).

Rochelle Frank is a renowned writer of the children's book called "So What, Saw Whet?" . She has written this wonderful hub about "How to write humor". Now folks being funny sure is a serious business.

Glassvisage is a prolific writer and has written this informative hub which explains palmistry for newbies. Well this reminds me of the incident that once when I was travelling in a train(in India) and the gentleman wanted to hold my hand giving this reason that he wanted to read my Palm...LOL

Robie2 like me is a military kid and has written hubs on various subjects. I like her hub about how to stick to our New Year Resolutions which is just around the corner.

Wandererh has written a hub about the various places where we could make money writing. I am sure this hub is worth checking out for every serious writer (and for not so serious writers like me too)...LOL

Mr Williams has writter a hub about the 20 ways to make money online without any investments. It is a hub worth checking out.

ResearchAnalyst is a prolific hubber who writes many hubs about various work from home opportunities. It is another hub worth checking out.

GamerGirl has written this hub about the safe driving practices. I wish everybody who drives in winter in snowy conditions stays safe. Hope you also find these suggestions as useful as I have found.

Indy Cindy has written this hub about the easy ways to save money during winter. It sure has some practical tips to save some money and worth checking out.

Marlene F. has written this hub about the various options to involve the child in sports or activities. This is a welcome addition where parents face tough choices for those kids who want to only watch TV or play video games.

Whitney05 has written this great hub which teaches us how to litter train our dogs to answer their "nature calls". Another very useful hub for all dog lovers like me.

Rmr has written this great hub which teaches us how to speak the cat language. It is a must read for all cat lovers.

Ajcor (aka Anne) has written this hub about the issues to keep in mind while moving a house. Their are couple of good tips and suggestons.

JKSophie has written the challenges for mom's and it is a good article on parenting.

Rgraf has written a very good hub explaining about the effective Teaching Methods. It is really a great hub and the poll at the end was very thoughtful too.

Akeejaho has written this nice article about organically how to grow fruit trees. It is one of my dreams to have a house with a nice backyard full of various fruits and vegetables (definitely one of my favorite hubs).

Cgull8m has written this nice article about how to avoid the fruit flies which are so common. It has some practical tips useful for all of us.

Patty Inglish has written this great hub for all those who have ever wondered "How to crack the Interview". She has dealt the subject in great depth in this hub and many other similar hubs. She is one of my favorite writers here who has a wealth of information and a great presentation style.

6) Be entertaining: This is no brainer. Everybody likes entertainment be it with jokes, music, dances or thrills (like magic).

Ashwin has written this great hub about magic although he disagrees with me that Cris Angel is also a great magician but I still love his hub on Magic which is really entertaining(try finding the trick without going through the comments it took me at least 6 tries to finally find the trick)...LOL

KerryG has written this wonderful hub about great Dancing Stars in Hollywood which I have bookmarked to see those videos again and again.

Weblog has written many entertaining movie reviews which are worth checking out. The latest movie review about Bollywood movie Ghajini is touted to be a block buster.

ConstantWalker has written about this Merry Cemetry in Romania which is worth checking out. I never knew Cemetry could be so "lively".

7) Be an active participant: Now anybody who has been around hub pages for a while knows that here their are some people who know so much more than what we do about this place. We can always ask, share or exchange information frequently and over a period of time even we will gain the proficiency to be a great hubber.

ShinuJohn has more than a 1000 hubs in one year. Of course most of which are picture galleries(like this one about Mridula). Now I would like to just say this that some of us do like to see the photos (even paparazzis exist to provide us with these pictures) and hence where their is demand their is supply. On a serious note those who come to view the picture galleries from search engines like google, yahoo or microsoft also may check out other hubs hence these picture galleries do have a positive contribution to hub pages.

Shalini also is a prolific hubber and has almost 300 hubs in one year (making it almost a hub a day). She has written this hub which will be useful for those who are keen to make money out of Google Adsense.

Mark Knowles is a great writer and a very active member in the forums(more than 5000 forum postings). He is very supportive of all hubbers and shares his knowledge through hubs/forums(and has particular liking to discussing religious themes). He has a written a great piece about how Hubpages can be used as a CV(a must read for every new hubber).

Misha is another very active hubber who participates a lot in forums(more than 4000 forum postings). He is also very supportive (might I add more than amenable to the feminine gender). He also is one of the most liked members on hub pages having more than 1000 fans. He has written a hub about back links which may be useful for those who want to make more money through Backlinks.

8) Be a traveler: Yes I mean it. We all need to recharge ourselves whenever we can so that we get to learn and share our experiences. I have enjoyed traveling a lot both in India and USA. Hence I can safely say that it is one of the best forms of education where we learn to be open, tolerant and understanding of others beliefs/cultures. I recently went to California and really enjoyed it and hence sharing those moments here(Just doing a little of bit self promotion)...LOL

Laila has written this wonderful piece since after the brief introduction I hope you also must be planning on taking a vacation. Some nice tips and suggestions for Online Travel Planning.

Livelonger gives some wonderful advice for those who want to Travel to Thailand. Such hubs are good recollection of dos and dont's which aren't generally listed in travel guides but only learned through experience.

Cris A. has written this beautiful piece which illustrates that we learn so much more about a culture, beliefs and food habits of people when we visit such great places like Philippines.

Sufidreamer has written an excellent piece and an insider information for Traveling to Greece. It certainly is worth checking out for everyone.

Lela Davidson has written a great hub travel within Midwest in USA. There are lots of lovely places in and around midwest where I went to school.

Jyle Dupuis has written a wonderful hub with great pictures about the top 10 places to visit in Canada.

TonyMac04 has written a wonderful piece about the history of South Africa. This hub has lots of historical images and current photos of cape town.

Jreuter has written some wonderful travel hubs and this article about the travel to middle east would do even a National Geographic magazine proud with his pictures and attention to detail.

Prince Maak has a wonderful hub with great photos about the historical monuments to visit in India.

9) Be "Crafty": Another great way we can contribute is by writing good hubs about Arts & Crafts.

SweetiePie has written many hubs about various topics and Crafts are her specialty. Please check out her hub on "How to make a Candy Cane Bookmark". She is another prolific hubber whom I admire a lot.

Trsmd has written this hub about ArtGlass which is very innovative and pleasing to the eye. Please do check it out.

Lita Sorensen has taken some wonderful Black & White pictures which are a beautiful piece of artistic photography. Hope you do check her pictures and her other hubs which are equally good.

Amanda Severn has also kept a wonderful gallery of Christmas images for Art lovers which is worth checking out. I especially liked the Carl Larsson collection among her gallery.

10) Be inspiring: After reading so many people and their great hubs we all get inspired and hope we also write great hubs which will inspire others to take to hubbing.

AEvans is one of the senior members of this hub pages family. She has thanked many hubbers who inspired and supported her in initial days. It is a great lesson for us to carry on this great tradition and have an Attitude of Gratitude like she has.

Amy Jane has written such a inspiring hub about Apologizing. I agree so many times I have not apologized or haven't been sincere enough in my apology.

Ananta has written this great hub about how one would like to be Remembered after leaving this earth. This is a very inspiring hub to get our priorities right and the following comments are also a must read.

Madison Parker has written this great hub about how life moves on despite facing great personal tragedy after the loss of her dearest daughter. A truly inspiring hub about the great internal strength possessed by this woman who also prays for so many others who are undergoing similar testing times.

ParadigmShift has written this great article about how Important Life is and how we should learn to live it accordingly. Another truly inspiring hub.

Dorsi has given out her Secret to being the Top Hubber to many of us who aspire to write as well as she does. It truly inspires me to take my writing to another level (or as is often heard on "Emeril Live" Kick it up a notch).

Ripplemaker is another inspiring writer who has so much to offer. She shares her love and passion for life with her beautiful hubs like this one which is the largest collection of Quotes on Hubpages.

Ardie has written this beautiful piece which is so moving and nothing can be more fulfilling then Loving Kids. This hub certainly inspires me to be a good loving parent whenever that opportunity comes my way.

Thanks a lot for reading this far and hope you do benefit with this information. It has been a labor of love and hope you all like it.

Violet- I hope you like that hub about Thailand. I heard thailand is a good exotic place to visit on a budget. And once he lives in thailand maybe you can pay him a visit too.  I am sure many people would benefit from that "younger" hub. Thanks for the thumbs up.

Christoph- I really liked your natural love for dogs and felt that would be the ideal hub. Was their another hub that you preferred that I should have included?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009 to you too. May you, your family and friends be blessed with Health, Wealth and Happiness too.

CW: They are going to start a family, so one day I would have to visit them. I can't wait to be an aunt all over again. :)

By the way, I am your fan, and I didn't get an announcement for this hub. The hubpages mail delivery is not always reliable.

Violet- That's great to hear. I am sure you will get to visit them very soon. Good luck on the aunt part (are the couple aware about your eagerness?).  Btw if you were to pick one of your best hubs which one would you have preferred to be included?

Oh you beat me to it! I was planning to do something like this upon checking Joe's hub on becoming unpopular! But but BUT upon seeing your hub, and the magnitude of effort that you obviously put to collating everything, it's a good thing I procrastinated! LOL and thanks for putting my name up there, too!

May the spirit of the season engulf you in a warm embrace! :D

Don't say paalam, say see you soon, instead, okay? :D Namaste!

Hi Countrywomen,

Glad to see you haven't left yet :-)

Wonderful twist on RockinJoe''s hub, and thanks for including me in your list.

Have to go now. Although I am Australian, we celebrate the traditional European "Christmas Eve", and open family presents, and have a good meal. We're cooking Salmon and prawns on the barbie, washed down with some good Aussie wine.

Tomorrow is Christmas day, with a big program of visiting friends, family, and generally spreading goodwill and good times.

All the best to all my HubPages friends, and I hope that the next week is great for you, whether or not you celebrate this time of year.

Regards,

Eric G.

Wow, it's a great article and brings many great hubs in single page. Thanks for the positive energy :)

My friend, are you aware of referral trackers in HP? Using trackers will be a good idea while you are referring to others hubs, I say this because you can get some share from their ad impressions and clicks.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Eric- Yes even in India they celebrate Christmas at the same time as in US. Glad to know that you are having such a great time with family and friends. I wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009.

Weblog-How do I use that? But if I do that will their revenue be shared then I don't want to partake of some body's else's revenue. Appreciation and usefulness of this hub is a reward in itself for me.

It's not wrong dear, many of us use referrals and at least you can see how much you traffic you are driving to others hubs:

http://hubpages.com/faq/#affiliate

Important point is that you are not sharing any hubber's revenue, you get the share from HP's 40%. You can read the page and decide. :)

Once you started using them, you can monitor here:

Thanks weblog. Do I have to create unique HubPages Referral Tracker in the drop down list for each one separately? I just created another one ajcor(moving house) and it wasn't accepting so I had to link it to the existing one for disco age. Let me know if that is how it is supposed to work.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

You can use different trackers for various purposes, for example say you are submitting your links to DIGG, you can create new tracker that's just for your identification. Thus you can know how much traffic comes from DIGG alone, so it may look like this say your new tracker is named 'diggcw'

http://hubpages.com/_diggcw/hub/10-ways-to-become-

For this hub, I think you can use same tracker for all links. You can create only 20 trackers on the whole, so it's better to reserve them as you may need different ones anytime in future.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Weblog- I am only going to use it for hub pages hence I guess one tracker is good enough for me. I am not into too much blogging. But anyway thanks for that information and efforts to create that link. Ok I guess I have the hang of it and from now onwards I will do accordingly. You know something today morning when I got up first time I saw my hub score jump to 94 which is a new high for me. i guess my writing effort is getting appreciated. Btw when are you writing your next story hub?

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

Yes, I clearly can see your scores having good raises these days :)

I get story ideas, the spark comes in mind very easily and I have chosen some of them to be compiled as short story hubs. My main problem as I always say is english, to be more clear - I can't THINK in english, hope you understand that I mean the fluency level.

As of now I can think of it in tamil and then translate to english and most importantly I concentrate in presenting my hubs in simple, understandable english. I'm not giving up, it just takes it's own time. Certainly your hubs inspire me as good as I feel comfortable with SweetiePie's every hub, you both have good style of writing - at least it's understandable for me.

Thanks for the support, I hope my next story hub will be posted soon. Or that could be a hub about any of my artworks, let's see :)

Weblog- My father always says that "work so hard that success is inevitable". We just have to keep trying. Abraham Lincoln has said " 'A winner never quits and a quitter never wins." Just keep writing a little whenever you have time and very soon you will be where you want to be. Put all those ideas into typing or writing on a paper. And then start working on it. And once you have draft then experts like SweetiePie are always their to smooth out the rough edges.

BT Evipants- It is a honor to represent such a proud member of the Jackalope family. Well coming to myself being included yes i have done that (albeit in a surreptitious manner)..hehe

PamR- (((Cyber Hugs))) to you too. You are welcome my friend. I am so thankful to you too for highlighting this common addiction and the possible cure for it. Hope you do check out so many great hubbers in this wonderful hub pages family.

Mdvaldosta- Well I have done the best I can but I still will try to include a few more as we go along. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Hubber-2009 - It is a pleasure to be able to share your efforts with other wonderful hubbers here. Thanks for stopping by again.

Ardie- You too are a sweet loving person. I hope you do check out all these great hubs by so many wonderful hubbers. Thanks for clarifying on my request about the missing child in your hub.

Lgali- Happy Holidays to you too. You always visit and comment on my hubs. Thanks a lot my friend.

Patty- I am honored that you have paid this hub a visit. I am big fan of your writing style. I just don't have words to say how great I feel when I see your hubs on so many different topics with so much information and your great presentation style. You are truly an inspiring person for aspiring writers like me. Merry Christmas and Happy New 2009. May you, your friends and family be blessed with health, wealth and happiness.

Ripplemaker- Thanks for appreciating my labor of love. I am still reading a little everyday and miles to go. Their are so many great hubs that one can never get tired of reading. You really deserve to be here and provide so much joy/enthusiasm to this web family. Salamat for those encouraging words. Paalam.

Greatlife- I wasn't fortunate enough to read your hubs earlier. Now that you have mentioned will pay a visit and choose one that would be most useful for fellow hubbers. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Yeah, I'm working on it. Even in my recent photo galleries, you can see my own writings though I'm quite aware that many people who come for images don't look into the text part almost always. (I'm 90% sure about it as we can see/track the visit duration on pages)

I've written around 500 words in recent Ghajini hub and over 300 words in another hub that is about a forthcoming action movie of Sneha. So, I'm practising my writing, trying to be different in movie/photo hubs too.

Thanks for your support :)

Lita- I am glad you liked the photos hub that I listed. Well my father used to say "If you don't take control of the situation then the situation takes control of you". I guess I just feel we should look at positives from every situation we face in life. Life is too short to be fretting and regretting over things which I have no control over once they are done with. I feel if I worry about that too much then even on things which I have control I will lose control over it. Anyway things happen for a reason and hopefully I have matured a little bit.

Weblog- Nice that you are analyzing things to such a minute detail. I usually don't do that for most part when I am having so much fun here at hub pages. But glad to know that you are making steady progress. You are my friend and thanks is not needed between friends. My support will always be their for your sincere efforts.

Joe- Now you got to be kidding. How can I show you anything that you already don't know. You and Lita have such a range of work experiences which will probably take a person like me many life times to experience. I guess a little self promotion sometimes doesn't hurt..LOL

Well, CW... I've been working since I've been 12 for starters, lol! And actually, all (well, most) my experiences have been within fields that have to do with writing or art, to be honest. Others were survival jobs, and etc., while I was in college, or summers. You'll find we are a rarified but also common lot--American artsty bohemian types.

Your father sounds like a very intelligent man.

Lita- I was in Girls (Scouts & Guides) association from ages 10-12. I volunteered once for selling(Indian Snack Items) for a fund raiser for them. Then during my undergrad(also volunteered for a charity fund raiser once) then did a 2 month internship in my field and then during masters(not including my student job at summer camp & assistantship work) 3 months internship followed by present job. That's all I have done so far and hence I admire people like you with such a range of experiences. I love Bohemian types. My next hub I am planning to dedicate it to my father. Thanks for mentioning that.

Oh did you mean the statistics are my minute observation? Actually, you can easily get them by clicking in STATS button on your hubs. About the visitors duration part...You can see traffic, visitor related statistics and all if you are using google analytics.

I mentioned about the word counts because the fact is that most of the photo hubs you find here at hubpages will have simply 50 to 100 words which the hubbers feel is enough for search engine traffic. My style of photo hubs are bit different, these days I write more words, I spend time in internal linking and also some smart use of RSS capsules works good in my experience.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Weblog- I am aware of that traffic sources(which is pretty straight forward) but I was replying to this "see/track the visit duration on pages". I have no idea how to calculate how much time they spend on any of my hubs.

Also I never knew about this word length and maybe I have to read up more on that (I kept one a long time back in the initial phases Surya Jyothika baby pictures). I also need to research about RSS capsules. I am learning everyday something new. You really are aware about so many finer details. I am still new and glad that I am learning so much here everyday.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

I should know that you will be aware of traffic sources, I just happened to say that before I could mention about google analytics. It's nice to explore the details like - what are the keywords that bring our hubs traffic, visitor duration, geographic location of the visitor etc. with such a wonderful google service. One more google product I like very much is google insights (came after google trends). There we can find popular keywords, and statistics related to popular keywords.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

I didn't know that you had posted a photo gallery, I just visited now and posted a comment. It looks fine, seems you haven't used text capsule but the photo captions are counted as text and they can help image search traffic too.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Weblog- Initially when I joined I used to see picuture gallery and used to enjoy some of them. Then posted these two as a sample. The surya jyothika baby pictures occasionally from unregistered users I get comments and the other one I hardly get any visitors for Gopika marriage pictures.

I will get up to speed with all that you have mentioned. I am so glad that you are explaining so many things which I wasn't aware of. I guess I will use the free time in writing hubs or researching these things rather than participating in forums for now.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

It's a good decision about forums, seriously in my opinion. However, I won't say you should completely avoid them. I personally like hubbers hangout forum more than any other, I read more and post less in threads. I think that will be good for you if you decide to participate after awhile there :)

Actually, picture galleries brought me into hubpages. I was inspired by Shailini's photo hubs when I was new at HP, later I realised this site has lot of good articles and photo hubs get traffic from outside sources.

I also posted Gopika's wedding pictures on the next day of her wedding I remember, yeah such hubs are seasonal. I got bunch of traffic to that one which later got faded, but comments were too supportive.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Weblog- I will see how things go as far as forum participation is concerned. I have to first finish my home work reading up on all the stuff you mentioned(I like being a student)...hehe. Shalini has very good articles and also is a prolific hubber. I almost forgot about that gopika hub(since I hardly got any comments for it) then I remembered that I published two hubs during my first few weeks. I guess we all eventually move on to the next level. I also like picture gallery like marriage/baby pictures not into other kind of pictures though. I guess the other hub brings people from search engine and hope those who do come to hub pages check out other hubs too (hence I do support picture gallery which are decent).

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

The main reason photo galleries are here is because of the traffic a hub can get much better than that of photo blog posts, and you are right about this part:

"....hope those who do come to hub pages check out other hubs too"

All the best for your successful homeworks :D

countrywomen profile image

Weblog- It is commonsense since I have a photo gallery I get from search engines and some of those who come may visit other hubs too. When you mean "photo blog" then is it also a good/detail write up about the photos? Yes I will do that soon. I am still waiting for the flight status of my trip(due to snowy airport conditions). From today I have taken vacation and will be able to devote time to hub pages.

SweetiePie- It is your greatness that you consider me "great". Although I do aspire to be a "great hubber" whenever that happens with all the support and encouragement from senior hubbers like you. Btw How do you manage to write a hub almost every alternate day? It does take a lot of work to write hubs. And also would you have preferred some other hub or is that hub one of your favorites too?

PrinceMaak- I am a programmer in my regular day job and for me reading/writing is a big relief after staring at the lines of code..LOL I really enjoy hub pages and can never get tired of spending time here.

Patty is one the finest hubbers and I absolutely adore her. Thanks for those nicest words about this being a "garland". I am very happy that you feel that way. I will have to read some of your hubs too which I have been unfortunate enough not to set my eyes on yet. Glad that you could stop by and comment.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

I think I need to clarify there - I was talking about photo blogs that may be of a blogger or wordpress or something else. I should say a single photo gallery(hub) here attracts much of traffic that many blog posts of a photo blog can't bring together. It is because HP is already good at SEO, and photo hubs naturally don't need much of promotion...just an attractive title, some keywords in text, tags and captions can do that magic.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Verizon regular service gives people an extremely hard time when you want to leave their DSL or phone service. So far I have been okay with their cell phone service, but I have heard people had problems when canceling their cell phones with them. The reason I canceled the DSL was because no one wanted to help with my connections, so I switched over to Time Warner.

-CW2, thank you very much for the Merry Cemetery inclusion. That was the only story on HubPages which I did "on assignment" so to speak. I wouldn't have chosen to write about a cemetary in Romania, but once I started researching it, I loved it.

Thanks again!

Also; the best Travel-Hub writer on Hub Pages, as far as I've read, is JReuter... hands down. Some of the dude's prose is like reading National Geographic.

Ananta- Thanks for bookmarking this hub. Hope you do enjoy so many different hubs from many excellent writers like you. Thanks for complimenting me but as far my hubs are concerned I still have miles to go but still I will be trying maybe one day who knows.

Glassvisage- Oh yes you are popular. I will have to check out some of your hubs too and hope to include you too. This hubs is a work in progress. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Cindy- Thanks for the compliments. I feel my efforts were justified with your appreciation. I will check out your hubs too very soon. Thanks for commenting.

CW1- Yes you told me earlier that it was published in some Russian magazine too. I also found it very lively hence included it. Yes I will check out his hubs about travel and I will surely include his link after getting such a high recommendation from you.

G-Ma- I always love your recipes and that brain teaser hub was good too. Yes I do hope you check out all the great hubbers in this hub family that we have.  I especially love your sweet hugs which feels as if my mom is hugging me. You are such a wonderful soul and a pleasure to meet here on hub pages.

Gwendy- Yes I will try to write better hubs so that I may feel I am justified to include myself (although I did include Cris Angel/California hub indirectly).  Btw I do hope others contribute to your hub and mention what they feel about fellow hubbers. We all need motivation and maybe a reality check sometimes. Thanks for stopping by.

Laila- You maybe new to hub pages but you are a very good writer. I can say that since I have been to your comp tutor blog. It is very simple to make something difficult but very difficult to make something simple. You do have the ability to collect and present the information in  a smooth easy to understand manner.

Happy New Year Everyone. May we all be blessed with Health, Wealth and Happiness.

Hi CW, are you in my fan club? If yes, do you get email(from HP) when I publish new hubs? I ask this because many are not receiving such notifications.

Sorry for spamming, I'm inviting you to my recent hub:

http://hubpages.com/hub/Beneficial-Snakes

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

Hi CW,

This could be a nice suggestion - As you know, now we have the bookmarking feature in HP, you can simply bookmark the latest hubs page or the profile page of selected hubbers(as you wish) which can help you stay updated with whatever they publish. You can just visit your bookmarks once in awhile to find updates.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Weblog- That is a great suggestion to bookmark some of my favorite hubbers. I will do that but meanwhile in case I do miss reading your hubs then please don't hesitate to remind me(no need to say spam and all ok). Btw I was your fan but never sent a fan mail earlier which I just sent.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

Hey CW, sorry for that I was wrong about bookmarks. I just went back and checked, it seems we can bookmark individual hubs, but not profile page or latest hubs page!

But, yes we as usual have our own browser bookmarking to do that right LOL

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

No problem. Btw when I comment on your hub it just disappears without allowing me to even edit my own comment in case if I have spelling mistakes or want to add more information their. Are your settings different from mine?

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

Yes, you can find the settings in edit mode. I always have the particular setting enabled because we can filter unwanted(like spams, personal attacks) comments even before they appear in our hubs.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

I guess then others would face the same issues that I mentioned earlier.  I guess if I allow myself to express myself I should be able to withstand those personal attacks too (if they are too bad then I can always deny them). Thanks for letting me know about it though. Thanks for the nice fan mail. Hope you liked my fan mail too.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

Hi CW, I can understand what you refer to as an 'issue' - but, we should understand the need of comment moderation. It's there in blogger and some other sites too, people simply come in for trolling, spamming etc. As you may know mainly trolls start with personal attacks, this mostly happens when the visitor is not a hubpages member.(There is another setting here that restricts unregistered members commenting)

Take my pic gallery hubs, some guys, especially unregistered ones when they come and see a sexy(or romantic) photo in hubs you can imagine to what extent they go. I can allow, for example when someone leaves a message like 'I like to kiss her..' but, they comment very weird sometimes, hope you understand what I mean.

Also, it's risky to allow weird, obscene comments if you see that from adsense viewpoint, simply not noticing a bad comment is not an excuse. Thats why I always want to approve a comment before it can appear in my hubs.

After all, it's our responsibility. What do you feel?

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

I guess you do have a point. I did get couple of emails after I wrote that "It's ok not to be a christian" hub. One was very rude too and denouncing hindu religion..... Those unregistered ones are of course a cause of concern since we don't know who they are to respond back. I will think about it but I still feel my own comments I should be able to correct it. But if you are regularly getting such nasty comments then I would say your approach seems more practical.

Weblog- Well their is a lot going on other front for me anyway I read that it only allows for a few hours hence I just let it pass since now so much traffic isn't their to this hub for me to justify the effort. Maybe next time I will. Thanks for asking and hope you had a great time. Happy New Year.

weblog profile image

weblog  says:

I just wanted to know if you had some difficulty in applying the trackers, thats why I asked. The limit is not just single time, the tracker will be active for 120 minutes everytime a new visitor clicks on the link. The impressions(adsense, ebay etc.) and clicks are randomly rotated for HP and yours. I think this hub has many links and the effort will be worth, you can do step by step for your ease.

Happy New Year.

countrywomen profile image

countrywomen  says:

Weblog- No I didn't have any difficulty. Ok so I can still keep the trackers and it will last forever then. Thanks for the follow up I will do that step by step. Their have been other things going on in my mind but I will attend to this soon. Happy New Year.

Anyway thanks again - I always enjoy your Hub!

Happy New Year and love and peace to you and yours

Tony- Do you intend to have a travel hub about South Africa? Or maybe life coach would be good to include let me know. I will ask weblog about a hub about these things.

Since I just know how to use the trackers I can tell you in details: First go to the hub you want to have the tracker I.,e http://hubpages.com/hub/Why-Are-Dogs-Mans-Best-Fri

Then at the bottom of the hub their are three icons you see Share It, UP and Down.

Click on the green share it

Now click on link to this page

Then the URL would be highlighted select that and copy it.

Now come to your own hub and edit in text mode

Highlight the particular text you want to link

In this case Man's relationship with dogs then click on the chain symbol (Hub link description)

Now insert the link and save the changes.

Now verify when you hover it whether you can check the link is visible with the tags.(It takes 2/3 minutes to get updated)

Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions as I myself had to ask weblog couple of times these things.

Hi CW - thanks for the opinions. I too watched hindi Ghajini, and felt like the movie is technically much better than tamil. It has to be that when a movie is remade and the responsibility is higher when the same director is remaking it. Especially, photography and Rahman's re-recording were awesome.

About Aamir, what I felt was his acting, especially when he expresses anger, vengence is too good. But, he couldn't beat Surya in romantic scenes, and the audience who watch it for first time(those who haven't seen original) will enjoy it very much. Asin as usual rocks!

And, you said you don't see tamil movies much...what's your mother-tongue? I'm just curious to know.

Tomato- Actually the idea was based on Rockinjoe's other hub. But thanks anyway for appreciating and finding this useful.

IssuesVeritas- Thanks for the kind words my friend.

Sixtyorso- And thank you for the double thanks. It is because of great writers like you that I enjoy being here at hub pages so much.

LingJingLing- Thanks for appreciating.

Rochelle- You are really a celebrated real life author and I am really honored that you visited this hub. Also thanks for appreciating my views.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and commenting.

It's great to see so many interesting hubs pointed out, that takes some of the dirty work of browsing for good ones! This is definitely the longest guestbook I've seen here so far..hubbers have some worthwhile things to say, I read all of the comments. I've defnitely embraced the topic of travel, like you said. It's what flows out of me onto my hubs the best, and it's what I know.

Thanks for all of these suggestions, you've provided a valuable resource for the community!
