About Joseph Minion's script he went on to say, "I was fascinated by what was happening as the story unfolds. It is like a Chinese puzzle."

After Hours - 1985

Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) is a regular guy in a routine life who is looking for a little excitement. Full of hope and good will, he heads to SoHo (which means South of Houston Street in case you don't know Manhattan) to meet the mysterious Marcy for a late-night date. Poor guy. He has no idea, that he is about to become the punchline of a giant cosmic joke. The descent down the rabbit hole begins when in the cab on the way, he watches his money literally fly out the window and Boom. The tone has been set. A late night blind date with no money or means to get back uptown later. The cast of New York City is as follows...Rosanna Arquette as Marcy, then Linda Fiorentino as Kiki Bridges the roommate. John Heard, Teri Garr, Catherine O'Hara, Victor Argo, Bronson Pinchot, and two other guys you may have heard of called Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong who won't stop chasing him in their Mister Softee ice cream truck! One Very Filthy Joke.

Now when you first start this film you WILL BE shocked and appauled by at least three things in the first few minutes no matter how liberal your tastes are. HOWEVER, once you get past the vulgarity (which in this case is entirely the point) you will be numbed to the language of it and drawn to the creativity and tactical cadences, pauses and strategies in which to execute YOUR ultimate telling of this completely improvised joke. Since you are going to hear the joke over 100 times more anyway it's not a big deal to reveal the exoskeleton of the joke which is as follows....

The Aristocrats ~ 2005

A Man and his family walk into a talent agency and say have I got an act for you.

First the father whips out his......

Then the mother starts to.......

and the father not only likes it but........

and if that wasn't gross enough, all of a sudden the children begin grasping for....

Out of nowhere the family pet walks on stage, and by this point.....vomit and filth.......act on the baby........

and that's it, THE END.

The talent agent looks at him and says, Oh. My. God. That's the most amazing thing I've ever heard, what do you call yourselves?

The father smiles a game show host and says,

THE ARISTOCRATS!

Apparently Jon Favreau met Vince Vaughn on the set of the Notre Dame Football movie Rudy. Three years later in 1996 the duo released their Buddy Flick in Vegas called Swingers and overnight, we have two rising stars. One a meek Writer/Director, and the other a devious Comedic Actor. After 5 years apart (and not much to show for it) they re-united to make MADE.

Made ~ 2001

Bobby and Ricky have agreed to do a small favor for a local crime boss (Peter Falk) and all they got to do is stay cool and keep quiet. Did I mention Vince Vaughn is in this? You will die laughing as the wanna-be gangsta Ricky keeps blowing up the spot with his unshuttable mouth. Favreau's simmering straight man who just wants to get out alive after vouching for his friend is also a riot. Hottie Famke Janssen is thrown in for whatever reason but the real surprising support comes from Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs and Faizon Love as Ruiz and Horrace. Both careers have jettisoned ever since.

Some people might look at this movie and say, "Come on, That movie?", but that would only be because they never saw it! Marisa Tomei is even funnier in this than she is in My Cousin Vinny (1992) which came out a year after Oscar. The rest of the Cast includes...Are You Ready for this? Sylvester Stallone (who isn't terrible) Tim Curry of Rocky Horror fame, Peter Riegert & Mark Metcalf of Animal House, Vincent Spano, Chazz Palminteri who is amazing in this, Harry Shearer who's amazing in everything he does, William Atherton - the ultimate bad guy, Kurtwood Smith of That 70's Show, and even old-timers Eddie Bracken and Don Ameche show up. And the ladies to support Tomei are...Ornella Muti from Flash Gordon, plus Linda Gray & Joycelyn O'Brien.

Oscar - 1991

Gangster Angelo 'Snaps' Provolone has promised his dying father (Kirk Douglas) that he will quit the racket and go straight. He promises to do so and today's the day. The day is built around a big meeting with some bankers but 'Snaps' will have a lot more than that to juggle if he's gonna survive his first day as an honest man. Great script and cast. If you like Tim Curry's other classic in this vein Clue (like the boardgame), you will love Oscar!

This nasty movie qualifies as an annual cult favorite, because Bad Santa, vulgar as it is, is a sweet tale about losers. Simple as that. Did you know that the Coen Brothers conceived the basic idea and served as executive producers for director Terry Zwigoff who already made a bona fide indie smash in Crumb, the documentary about cartoonist Robert Crumb? Well now you do. Cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox, Lauren Graham, Bernie Mac and in his final film...<sniff> John Ritter. John Ritter was the original inspiration for me as a comedic character actor (not that I was any good at it) and I think you can see some of that in my Sample videos.

Too bad Billy Bob keeps taking parts doing this same thing over and over now. Beware of these inadequate clones!

Bad Santa - 2003

The plot is simple. Dressed as Santa and his elf, a conman and his partner rob the different department stores that employ them each year on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately for them though, this year is gonna be different! A fat dead-pan funny kid and a hot bartender are gonna teach them the spirit of Christmas, no matter how many prostitutes it takes.
