# 50 ~ Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Hey Buds, Let's Party!
Cameron Crowe has written many great scripts in his day but none are even close to as funny as his first screenplay devoted to teenage mayhem. His other work that did not make this list include...
Director Amy Heckerling has directed some ptetty funny movies that will not make this list as well and they are...
Johnny Dangerously ~ 1984
European Vacation ~ 1985
Look Who's Talking ~ 1989
Fast Times at Ridgemont High ~ 1982
Stacy and Brad Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh & Judge Reinhold) are the typical brother and sister in a southern California high school. Brad is entering the job market and his sister is experimenting with sex and they are both gonna learn quite a bit before this school year lets out. Stacy is being pursued by the 'Rat' but she instead sleeps with HIS best buddy the ultra-cool-guy wannabe Damone. His monologues at the record store with Debbie Harry are classic. They are just the framework however because once again, it's the supporting players who shine brightly.
Let's talk about this cast alright?
- Sean Penn as Jeff Spicoli and his two stoner buds are none other than Eric Stoltz and Anthony Edwards.
- Phoebe Cates is Stacy friend and Nicolas Cage is Brad's Bud.
- Vincent Schiavelli as Mr. Vargas and the MAN Mr. Hand who is played brilliantly by Ray Walston.
- Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker also appears as the insane football player who "First is gonna shit! Then he's gonna kill us!"
# 49 ~ This Is Spinal Tap
Rob Reiner has his faults, but come on! Meathead has gone on to direct a lot of great comedies through the years. The ones that didn't make the cut are..
- The Sure Thing ~ 1985
- Stand by Me ~ 1986
- The Bucket List ~ 2007
And this is OBVIOUSLY where Christopher Guest debuted his entire mock-umentary style. We will definitely be seeing him again on this list but not because of downers like A Mighty Wind & For Your Consideration.
This Is Spinal Tap ~ 1984
Legendary British heavy metal band SPINAL TAP are attempting a comeback tour of America which is captured in a hilarious documentary. This send-up of every major Rock-n-Roll cliche was such a breath of fresh air considering the formulaic comedies that were saturating the market at the time. WORST JOB EVER: Spinal Tap drummer!
# 48 ~ When Harry Met Sally
ROB REINER OVERLOAD!!!!!!
Billy Crystal has had a pretty successful movie career since making the jump from the Sitcom "Soap" to SNL to Hosting the Oscars almost every year in the 1990s. His films don't suck but...this is the only one that made my list. He made a cameo in This Is Spinal Tap as Morty The Mime but since then has made these great comedies that somehow did not make the cut...
- Throw Momma from the Train ~ 1987
- City Slickers ~ 1991
- Deconstructing Harry ~ 1997 (Two movies with harry in the title? What are the odds? He plays the Devil in this.)
- Analyze This ~ 1999
- Monsters, Inc. ~ 2001
When Harry Met Sally ~ 1989
Can a woman and a man be friends without sex getting in the way? I didn't think you pack two hours of jokes into that but apparently I was wrong. These two maddening people need each other and having known them for just two hours, we decide that we need them to be together as well. the High-Maintenance argument between the two at the diner is my favorite part but just don't talk to me about that stupid line after the fake orgasm. It's the most overplayed bit since, "Mom always said. "Life is like a box of..(KILL ME)..."

# 47 ~ WildCats
U-G-L-Y You Ain't Got No Alibi, You Ugly! What What? You UGLY!
This is the film debut of both Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson! Too bad for us though because they would make two really bad movies together in the future in White Men Can't Jump and the god-awful Money Train. But enough about them, this is about Goldie! She made the following comedies that were just not good enough...
- Protocol ~ 1984
- Overboard ~ 1987
- HouseSitter ~ 1992
- The First Wives Club ~ 1996
Wild Cats ~ 1986
The great Nipsey Russell lends a hand and some peanut brittle to this 'fish-out-of-water' take on football. Right! Swoosie Kurtz is also good but this one really is all GOLDIE. A female high school football coach gets the dream job in the wrong part of town. She coaches, she curses, and she kicks their asses too. Every player on the team is given a chance to shine as well. Finch 'the fat bastard' and Turullo 'the animal' are especially funny. Props to the amazing Bruce McGill as well. He is so unlikable as the rich school coach, that it's hard to believe that this is the same guy who played the lovable D-Day in Animal House. But we'll get to that.
# 46 ~ There's Something About Mary
Hey DJ, Play That Song!
FAIR WARNING: The Movie is Over-Rated!
There's no doubt that the Farrelly Brothers made some funny movies but this one gets so much attention for all the wrong reasons. The pork and beans bit with his fly AND the infamous human hair-gel. i know I definitely prefer Me, Myself & Irene or Osmosis Jones or Shallow Hal to this movie but for some reason, people just love it! I might as well fess up now about how Kingpin and the rest of these didn't make the list either.
There's Something About Mary ~ 1998
13 years after a devastating accident on prom night, Ted the former geek tries to right the wrong by finding his date from that night, Mary. He hires an investigator Matt Dillon who falls for her as well. Great supporting cast includes.. Lee Evans, Chris Elliott, Jeffrey Tambor, Sarah Silverman & Keith David. I know you love it and that is why it is here but wait. Who's list is this anyway? I will be heard simply be putting it down here in the 40s. Over-Rated movie underrated by me = balance for all.

When Harry met Sally has always been one of my favorites.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a f*cking classic. The Phoebe Cates scene coming out of the pool turned this child into a man. What amovie. Spinal Tap --- This goes to 11!
So glad you guys are digging it! I've enjoyed laying 'em down, that's for sure.
