When a person builds a site or blog he´s trying to show his work, himself/herself, his business, his products, his points of view, earning money or anything else - and to be noticed his site needs to have visitors, more and more visitors.

If a site don´t have visitors this site "doesn´t exist".

The two most significative ways to get traffic are:

- Site promotion

- Seo (to get visitors from search engines)

The most intelligent way to get more visitors it to optimize your site for seach engines (seo). This strategy would take a little more time to get visible results but once the work is done you´ll get durable results. You do the work once and you collect results for a long time period.

Site promotion has a different operation process - You can achieve great results and instant visitors doing 2 or 3 promotion campaigns but once those campaigns finish you´ll have to start promoting again in order to keep having visitors. It´s a nerver ending process: promoting leads to visits, more promotion means more visits, and so on...

Let´s see a few tips to get more traffic from search engines.

To get more visitors from seach engines your site needs to appear in the first places - But now the question is: how can I reach the top on search engines?

There are some tips you can follow to achieve the best ranks in search engine:

- Relevant Content- you should publish original and relevant content and update your site frequently in order to increase your page rank. If you copy text or articles from other sites your page rank will decrease and your site won´t be in first places - You´ll be duplicating content and you´ll be "punished" by search engines.

- Link building - there are 2 principal ways to do link building: a) external links b) internal links. External link building is more difficult and it takes more time but you can get external links through:

• Article Marketing - publishing articles in other sites with links to your site (Hubpages are a good place to do this).
• Forum Marketing - Publishing topics and comments in Foruns (linking to your site)
• Social Network Marketing - creating profiles on Social Networking Sites, putting topics on groups, commenting other profiles, etc. (always linking to your site).
• Video Marketing - making your own videos and publishing them on other sites (for example on you tube)
• Blog Marketing - doing exchange link with other blogs, buying advertising banners, posting comments on other blogs, etc.

Internal link building it´s more easier cause all you have to do is linking your keywords to other related pages inside your site or linking to other sites. Internal linking is also very important and as more internal links you have the better your page rank will be.

IMPORTANT TIP: To be at first places in search engines you should choose 2 or 3 keywords related to your site content. If you choose very searched keywords it will be more difficult to get to the top cause you´ll be facing a lot of competitors. So you shoud choose for example 3 keywords (1 of each class): 1 high searched keyword, 1 middle searched keyword and 1 low searched keyword (to know what keywords are most searched you can use Google Keyword Tool).

After choosing your keywords you should publish 1 article for each keyword - with content related to each keyword - You should use that keyword many times and create a large quantity of internal links for that keyword.

This will increase your page rank for the chosen keywords and your site will appear at first places for middle searched keyword and low searched keyword and will be more closer to the top for high searched keyword - It also depends on your competitors work :)
