10 Gas Bill Tips
50The Tips
- 1. Check your tire pressure-it's always leaking, keep up with it by checking regularly.
- 2. Empty your trunk-and the trash in your backseat, ditch the salt in the summer, more weight to haul takes more gas. Lighten up.
- 3. Coast more/brake less-like when you're coming up on a stop light, you won't get anywhere faster if you quickly get to the stopping point.
- 4. Change oil more-the better you take care of your car, the more it will reward you.
- 5. Google your routes-check your most common routes and see if they are the most efficient in terms of time in traffic and distance.
- 6. Acceleration check-I can't believe I'm telling you this, but accelerate gently after stopping and your car will use less gas in the end. Please don't try this in AZ, CA or OR (that's where I drive,) and I find it, um... annoying.
- 7. Stop for directions-gone is the day that our own hothead is worth the endless circles. If you stopped recognizing your path, ask someone.
- 8. Buckle then Ignite-get all set up in the cabin before you start the engine (it can add up.)
- 9. AC vs. Window-I started doing this in my last car because it stopped giving me the option. Now I find I often prefer the fresh air.
- 10. Avoid drive time-when your errands can wait for light traffic times, wait. This helps other drivers too.
