Commandments Are Easier To Follow With Directions

  • Moses was given ten commandments Bill W was given 12 steps I needed both to be a better human being I always wanted to follow the ten commandments but I never could. And I never knew that there were 12 steps to help me live the commandments, that's what the steps have done for me they have help me see the necessity of the commandments.Because the commandments are basically rules of engagement for relationship between mankind. And some tips on how to get God's attention.

Twelve steps many will say this is ungodly but have they taken a real look at the 12 steps or are they reacting out of fear or not knowing. One of the more powerful biblical quotes Say's my people perish for lack of knowledge.Lets take a brief look at the steps

.Step one: "We admitted we were powerless over____ and my life has become unmanageable".Powerless lost of control unable to enjoy and the inability to let go and then life becomes unmanageable is this possible. Many would say yes that have accepted this step and found out on the bases of admitting and being honest with ones self this steps has been a foundation to a God fearing life.

Step Two: "Came to believe that a power greater than myself can restore me to sanity".Sanity a word with a solid meaning the inability to think straight.I keep having bad experience after bad experience when I continue certain behaviors.Right thinking can only reside and a sound mind In hope and God brings about soundness of mind

.Step Three:"Made a decision to turn my life and will over to the care of God as we understood him".Turing over is something when heard seems impossible but those of us that have suffered from addiction knows that we do this unconsciously all the time. But when ask to do something we did without though or resistance on our part we quake in our shoes. But usually after recognizing that we have done it in the past we find that this is not to hard of a request.

Step Four:"Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves." Most can not look at the statement completely moral inventory whats right whats wrong what part do I play. Inventories allow business to know exactly what they have in stock whats moving and whats taking up space. When we do this we find that we never knew our true value or how others value us.Inventory a powerful tool when one values his life and need to revalue himself and make a turn around and self worth.

Step Five:" Admit to God ,to ourselves, and to another person the exact nature of our wrongs".We have been told or maybe heard that confession was Good for the soul.Letting one's self off the hook is the key to letting others off the hook self forgiving leads to true forgiveness of others

. Step Six: " Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character".Know we realize that we need help to develop character and we turn too our friend God to help as he did with the addiction problem know we know he is concern and will help if we are willing to allow him.

Step Seven:"Humbly ask him to remove our shortcomings".God is the him here and know we know we have fail short of living the life we desire

.Step Eight:"Made a list of all the person we had harm and became willing to make amends to them all ".We discover that we hurt more than our selves and begin to allow God to give us the courage to face them and admit how we had wrong them.

.Step Nine":Made direct amends to such people whatever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others." Know we go to work asking others to forgive us and offering to pay who we owe and what we owe.Action behind our words will make us a better person and show God and others that we mean business about changing our lives.

Step Ten:" Continue to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it."Daily personal maintenance and care on how I treat life the gift that is God given. Life is special and worth living but and order to live it successfully we must take a look daily in make corrections and reward ourselves for job well done and ask for direction to correct mistakes.

Step Eleven: "Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact God as we understood Him,praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out."The most important step to becoming a better person and cannot be done alone it will require real belief and God.Its like driving a car with no gasoline you want get far that the same as living a life without prayer and meditation.

Step Twelve:"Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,we tried to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs."This is the hardest step to take on a daily bases because it requires us to follow and age old adjective Am I my brother keeper,to do this step I have to say yes and then practice the principle of being my brothers keeper.Well this is just my opinion on the steps and a brief outline of the part they played in my life.

Moses went to the mountain to tell God I need help with these out of control people you have call me to lead they choose to do wrong when they know right from wrong; they want to return to the bondage of Egypt.God told Moses hold on am gonna give these people who I love some rule to life by With his on Hand he wrote the ten commandments with his on hand at least that's the account of Moses the prophet.Commandment one: "Thou shall have no other God's before me."I am your God deal with me and me only.Commandment

Two:Tho shall not bow down to them meaning other gods.Nothing you cherish should be worshiped

. Commandment Three:" Thou shall not take the name of the lord god in vain." Do not call on the lord and the time of no trouble as if there is trouble there is time to seek help and a time to praise

.Commandment Four:"Remember the sabbath and keep it Holy".Commandment Five:" Honour thy father and thy mother; that they days may be long on the earth". Respect your parents who gave you life that you might be chosen to honour me. Commandment Six:"Thou shall not kill." Be thou brother keeper honor life and forgive do not hate life and kill.

Commandment Seven:"Thou shall not commit adultery". You can only love one person at a time save all your affection for that person.

Commandment Eight:".Thou shall no steal."If it dose not belong to you it cannot be yours.

Commandment Nine: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.Do not accuse others of things you are not sure they are guilty of

.Commandment Ten:They shall not covet thy neighbor's house tho shall not covet thy neighbors wife (look upon with lust) nor his maid servant(business nor those that work for him)nor his Ox nor his ass nor any thing that belongs to your neighbor.Let whats his be his and whats your be yours do not be jealous.Looking at the Ten Commandments they are rules for engaging those in whom community I live.

So know we have look at the Ten Commandments And The Twelve Steps.I personally see the need and respect the role both play an my life I hope other will do the same.

You seem to have written an interesting article here, but it is too hard to read, it dazzles my eyes . You seem to have 12 important  points that you want to get across but I cannot find them because they are lost in this crowd of words.

Why not go over this article and break it into small blocks so it is easier to read, List the 12 points so one can pick them up quickly. Sorry if the teacherly  trait comes up in this comment. I really do want to read this article.

I agree with Juliet. The info in this hub is great -- I am in agreement with you about how the 12 Steps provide a blueprint for living, and that working those steps opens us up to being able to adhere to the 10 Commandments better.

I would concur that breaking up your info into a series of capsules so it is easier to read. Best, MM
