The Roaring 20s

Remember the "roaring 20's"? Me either, but I do remember all of the images, movies and stories that I have experienced over my lifetime which have left an impression of this incredible decade. Following the shock and hard times of WWI, the twenties were dubbed the "Jazz Age" by F. Scott Fitzgerald (author of The Great Gatsby). Prosperity and Prohibition marked the decade that saw unprecidented wealth as the economy soared. Prohibition made millionaires out of bootleggers.

The flapper who did not truly emerge until 1926 is the traditional image of the 20s that we think of. According to Fashion Era:

"A fashionable flapper had short sleek hair, a shorter than average shapeless shift dress, a chest as flat as a board, wore make up and applied it in public, smoked with a long cigarette holder, exposed her limbs and epitomised the spirit of a reckless rebel who danced the nights away in the Jazz Age."

In this hub I wish to direct you, my reader to the best resources available for creating this bold image of a 1920's woman through hair and makeup. Whether it be for a Halloween costume, play or plain old research I offer you my resources. I would also love to hear from you what are your thoughts and suggestions about 1920's hair and makeup?

Lovely look, romantic and liberating at the same time, whenever I think about it I think about Louise Brooks, perfectly reincarnated these days on Vanessa Paradis!
