712 fun ball games for kids
To play the following two games all you need are some energetic kids, a large area to play, a ball and some chalk.
Game one: Bounce
Number of players: 8 plus
How to play:
- Draw a circle around 9 foot (3m) across.
- Each child stands around the outside of the circle evenly spaced out.
- The ball is given to one of the players.
- This player then runs into the middle of the circle and bounces the ball.
- The player who was to the right of this first player then gets ready to run and as soon as the first player starts to run to their spot they run into the circle.
- The aim is for this second player to catch the ball before it bounces on the ground. Once they have caught it they bounce the ball as high as they can and return to their spot.
- The player who stood on their right runs in and repeats the process.
- The children keep count of how many times they are able to catch the ball before it lands, this number is their score.
- If the ball does bounce then they have to start counting again.
Game two: Dodge ball
Number of players: 8 plus (split into two equaly numbered teams)
How to play
- Draw a line down the centre of the play area.
- Split the group into two equally sized teams.
- Get one team to stand on one side of the line spaced out evenly and the other team to stand on the other side of the line also spaced out evenly.
- To start roll the ball down the centre line. It is bound to roll to one side of the other and the side it rolls onto is the team that can start play.
- The person nearest the ball picks is up.
- The person with the ball now has to throw the ball at a member of the opponents team, they have to do their best to dodge the ball.
- If the person with the ball manages to hit an opponent below the waist then that player is eliminated from the game.
- The person now nearest the ball picks it up and tries to knock-out from the game a member of the other team in the same manner.
- The games continues until only one team member survives and that team win!

I used to love Dodge Ball. It was a good game for kids like me, who weren't particularly athletically inclined, because it gave us a chance to feel capable (and even excel) in a "physical" game; and not feel quite so "un-athletic" (for lack of a better term). I was super-small (but fast), so I got to win when I generally didn't excel in most other physical games.
When people were talking about banning Dodge Ball a few years ago, I was really disgusted.
good hub for family
