STOP! WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS ALL WRONG! Are you like most people: day-in, day-out, doing the same old boring aerobic routine without seeing any real results? Do you feel unfocused or unmotivated? Then S-T-O-P!
Shhh! Listen, come here. I'm going to talk quieter now. I want to tell you a secret that will really change your life forever.
Here it is: From this day forward, you can put an end to those same old crummy routines. The good news is that the problem lies in the word quantity. That's right, while everyone else is probably telling you need to do more, I'm saying you probably need to do less. How can this be? Because what you need is QUALITY.
And I call it the 20 minute peak point aerobic factor. You'll call it the best thing that ever happened to you. Let me explain.
The 20-Minute Aerobics Solution
If you're like many people, you've been doing those long, boring, unfocused aerobic routines for quite some time now without seeing or feeling any results. What's going on here?
You see, the problem is, it's about quality not quantity, which Bill Phillips calls the High-Point Technique. It's based on something he discovered from spending seven years in the magazine business. Here's what he learned.
He's worked with many photographers over the years, helping them direct a lot of photo shoots. Often, they shoot for 11 hours and don't produce cover-quality photos. It's extremely frustrating- all that hard work and nothing to show for. That's the way it's done with most photographers he's worked with.
But there is another strategy - a whole new approach. First, they start with a quick, precision setup. Next, they take their position, shoot a "warm-up" photo or two, and proceed to capture the "moment" on film. That's it- photo shoot over- and the result? Well, if you've noticed the photos on the covers of magazines like Sports Illustrated, Time, or People . . . then you realize the photos are impressive, often breathtaking.
How are these spectacular results created with such little time? How is it that most photographers, who shoot for hours, often days, are unsuccessful at producing photos of similar quality?
The answer lies in… capturing the moment- the moment I call the peak point.
The same strategy you must apply to get extraordinary results from your workout.
Think about it: Superman's "super" moments are his peak points. When he is Clark Kent, the rest of his life is quite forgettable.
And the moments that define the legendary talents of athletes like Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, Mark McGuire, and John Elway are also their peak points.
When working out your goal is to trigger an adoption response.
Research indicates that stimulation needed to produce muscle growth occurs quickly or just doesn't happen. So the saying goes, "you can work out hard or long, you can't do both."
Studies show that high-intensity training will burn up to 50% more fat than low-intensity training and keep your metabolism revved up quite a while after your workout.
So don't be so concerned about calories burned on your stair stepper.
GOLDEN RULES FOR EXERCISE
Do it in the morning - research shows up to 300% fat is burned faster.
Do it on an empty stomach too - this burns more fat.
All it takes is 20 minutes, 3 times a week.
There are different levels of intensity when exercising. We will measure on a scale of 1 to 10- one being the easiest comparable to a slow walking pace. 10 is a peak point, where you're pushing yourself to the max.
Let's keep it simple.
1. What ever exercise you choose - biking, walking, EFX - begin by warming up for approximately 3 to 5 minutes at a level 5 intensity.
2. Just choose three points in the workout where you pick up the pace. On the first two, go for an 8 and then return to a 7 or 6 for 2 minutes. You should feel pushed but not out of breath. On the last one, reach for a peak point- go for a ten for 2 minutes. Bring it back down to a 5, similar to a brisk walking pace. Take about 5 minutes to cool down. There! You’re DONE! Wasn’t that a lot better than those same old boring routines?!!!
And if you think that’s amazing I’m about to show you…
