2007 Word to PDF Converter

Converting Microsoft Word Documents (.doc files) to PDFs has always been a major pain.

In the past you had to download about 10 different Word to PDF convertors before you found one that worked without a watermark without having to pay. Lets face it, spending an hour and $25 just to convert a Doc to a PDF really isn't worth it for the slight glimmer of professionalism that a PDF gives.

With Microsoft Word 2007 they have stopped short of including a PDF convertor as part of the standard download, perhaps because they don't want to let a competitor gain a potential edge in terms of file type dominance... But... they have made available a free 2007 word to pdf converter.

The slight catch, as with most Microsoft product updates - you have to run the Microsoft pirate software detection tool first.

Even if you are fully legal, it still sends a slight shivver down your spine...

As above, you will need to run the Software Validity test.

As always there is an alternative to using Microsoft products.

Although at time of writing it cannot read Word 2007 Docx documents, Sun's Open Office Writer can read Word 2003 documents, and export them straight to PDF without having to install any third party plugin

It has been announced that the Word 2007 Service Pack 2 will include support for native PDF exporting (as well as ODF and XPS), so thats good news.
