2009 Fantasy Baseball Most Valuable Players: Third Base
532009 Fantasy Baseball Most Valuable Third Basemen
(using mlb.com position requirements and scoring system)
1. David Wright
David Wright is an extremely talented player who can do it all. He can hit for power, hit for average, and has decent speed. He puts up incredible numbers every single season, but this year hitting in the hitter-friendly Citi Field, his numbers should be higher than ever. If you pick Wright, you can count on .320, 35 HR, 125 RBI, 110 R, and 20 SB, at the minimum.
2. Miguel Cabrera
Miguel Cabrera is an excellent pick for your team. He will easily give you a .300, 40 HR, 130 RBI, and 100 runs. Although it is hard to believe, but this All-star is only 25 years old and is still on the rise. An Additional plus on picking Cabrera is he also qualifies at first base.
3. Evan Longoria
Last year Evan Longoria put up a rookie campaign that was one to remember. He looked like he had been playing for years. His numbers will be even better than his from 2008. Longoria should hit .280, 35 HR, 110 RBI, 95 R, and 15 SB.
4. Aramis Ramirez
Over the past several seasons, Aramis Ramirez has proven that he can get it done. He finishes with fantastic stats at the end of every season. It is nearly a lock that he will give you .300 30 HR 115 RBI, and 90 R.
5. Alex Rodriguez
Although Alex Rodriguez has done some questionable things in his past, he is still one of the most talented players in the league. He will start the season on the DL, but he will still produce numbers better than most third basemen. A-Rod will hit at least .300, 35 HR, 100 RBI, 90 R, and 15 SB. Those numbers are predictions if Alex begins his season in the middle of May. He is likely to return before then, which will make his stats even more impressive.
Honorable Mention: At third base there are even more picks that will be smart other than these top 5, including Chris Davis, Mark Reynolds, Kevin Youkilis, and Aubrey Huff.
