2009 Fiba Americas Championship started last August 26, 2009 and ended September 06, 2009, with team Brazil held as champions as they escaped a tight fight against Puerto Rico 61-60.
Led by two of their NBA players in their current roster, Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Verajao, Brazil has claimed its 4th title in the Fiba Americas Championships. And has now placed themselves on the 14th spot of the Fiba World Rankings for men.
They automatically qualifies in the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey along with the other 3 teams who qualifies in the quarter final rounds.
