2009 IDSF Latin Dance Championship / IDSF Open Standard Final

To be honest, i do not know much about Czech except Skoda - the Czech auto brand. So i was a bit nervous when i first assigned to be the translator for the Czech team.

Good news is that the local organizaing commitee is experienced, and there is not much to worry about.

Official check-in date is Friday Sept 11, 2009, our guests scheduled to arrive in the evening of Thursday. The organizer sent a van with us to the Yichang Sanxia Airport.

Upon landing, i soon identieifed each guest's role: coach, couple, and family members. The coach and couple speaks good English, so far so good.

There is not much to do for Thursday evening, they seem pretty tired. After checking with them, my partner and i went back to our place.

Friday morning, all Czech members want to see the Three Gorges Dam, since i am a travel agent, it was easy for me to arrange a tour for them. When their bus was ready to leave, another 4 people was asking to go together, and really our van almost ready to go, another 3 joined. My partner went with the group, it worked out nicely. I did check with the people who did the Three Gorges Dam tour, they are VERY happy with the service.

In the afternoon, i helped the Czech couples completed the sign-in process with Latin Dance local orgianizer. Ooh, BTW, IDSF is short for International Dance Sport Federation. And this latin dance competition is World level.

Ethleics and coaches joined evening banquet. There was a funny thing happend: Estonia arrived but found they names not listed. The manager was very pissed off. In the end it worked out, i cordinated with the local organizer, and they got the names on the list. Cheers !

Then today... Saturday
I just came back, and reviewed my photos and videos. I have to say that it was the best performance i have ever seen. Although our couple from Cezch missed :-(
I can feel that they are very professional, and determined for greater success, and they will be the Champain on day! One of the couples, Jakub Drmota and Lenka is already the Champain in Cezch.

There is a Open Dance, first prize winner gets 1000 EUROs

Today is Sunday Sept 13, 2009, and it is a VERY happy day! Our Czech team, 2 couples, all went through to the semi-final, after 4 fierce competition!

AND, i am now anouncing the good news! ...
In the final compeition, our two couples won #8, and #5 respectively!!!!

It was an awersome experience that both of our couples are in the top 12 list, many teams like Sweden and USA have left the stadium.
