2009 Elections: Who's Making a Move? CNN
57The title of a recently released CNN article is "Analysis: Anger (and) Frustration fuel Election Day 2009". "Anger and Frustration" is a very negative phrase.
According to House Minority Leader John Boehner, speaking on "State of the Union", "We're in the middle, I think, of a political rebellion going on in America. And this rebellion is by people who have not been actively involved in the political process (before/previously) and THEY DON'T REALLY CARE IF YOU'RE A DEMOCRAT OR A REPUBLICAN". Is the GOP preaching bipartisanship now? "They want to see people who are going to stand up and protect the future for our kids and grandkids". Here's another 'hot-button' issue. Boehner mentions "protect the future for our kids and grandkids". Does this mean not insuring kids WHO ARE THE FUTURE or does this mean trying to keep costs down so that the next generation won't be burdened with them? THERE IS NO EASY OR CORRECT ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION. It is tough.
Now, what are political pundits saying? According to Stuart Rothenberg, editor and publisher of "The Rothenberg Political Report", which is SUPPOSEDLY non-partisan and unbiased, "RIGHT NOW, it looks like Republicans and conservatives are ANGRY and ENERGIZED to vote in the mid-terms next year". Republican sympathizers may indeed be "angry" at the Democrats and "energized" about upcoming elections for all sorts of reasons, but again, the million-dollar question is: can Republicans turn this "anger" and "energy" into productivity? THIS IS CERTAINLY NO GUARANTEE.
As far as the Virginia gubernatorial race/contest is concerned, Rothenberg says: "The race in Virginia IS PARTIALLY ABOUT the BROAD NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT, HOW THE POLITICAL PARTIES ARE DOING and HOW THE PRESIDENT IS DOING".
In a September debate, when asked if he was a "Barack Obama Democrat", Deeds responded: "I'm a CREIGH DEEDS Democrat". That statement is OK (implying that Deeds is an independent thinker). However, Deeds leaves us all baffled with his next statement: "a lot of what's going on in Washington HAS MADE IT VERY TOUGH". Does this mean then that Deeds cannot handle much pressure? If this is the case, he REALLY isn't suitable to become Virginia's next governor because ALL POLITICIANS need to be able to handle pressure.
