2010 Motorcycles Announced

Having scoured the internet so you don't have to. I have rounded up the best info I
could find about motorcycles that have been announced so far for the 2010 model year. This article is dated July 10th 2009 so some data may change for sure before the models are available starting mid September.
First up is a 2010 motorcycle cruiser that has been announced by triumph. It is the all-new Thunderbird 1600. This bike has a newly designed 1600cc parallel twin engine and a 6 speed gearbox. Can you say goldwing smooth? I know you can.. But the big twist is triumph's first ever belt drive announcement. If you like couch comfort with a smooth drivetrain then this is the bike you can do 4000 miles on over the weekend. IT is going to have available a multitude of accessories like hard bags and a bobber stripped down version too. Another good add-on option will be ABS brakes. Should be a show stopper for the anti-harley cruiser crowd.
Next up is for the rebellous crowd. The all-new 2010 Ducati Streetfighter has been announced. Looking at the preview pictures of this bike it seems like they stuffed a 1098 motor into the hypermoto chassis and polished it up a bit with ohlins goodies. It is water cooled Desmodromic Valve goodness that will make you grin ear to ear. It comes in cheaper by a little bit over the 1098 and has a little longer wheelbase. Throttle mapping is different to give it a less twitchy street ride. Don't be fooled as it has power to pull an arm-rippoff takedown for sure. To slow all that italian goodness down is a full set of Brembo brakes too. This will let you late brake any corner with a precision unparalleled by most bikes of this size. Options to this bike include traction control and a few color choices like black or red?? And the S model will come with some super sticky rubber and high end wheels. Early reports have it putting down 135 horsepower. Plenty of grins per mile from 2010 Ducati that is for sure.
Next up motocross motorcycles for 2010. Just about across the board there were little tweaks and chassis changes for 2010. Most not noticable except on paper. Big changes from the big 4 were fuel injection coming for the 250cc models. And of course BNG...bold new graphics.... The biggest coolest tech change was not to the bikes themselves. It was a new option for the kawasaki 2010 FI controller. They will have available for about $500 a Kawasaki FI calibration tool that comes with all the cables and several preset maps that you can use on your laptop to tweak to your hearts content. That is cool for the privateer jockeys to get them closer to the factory competition. Suzuki also has a 450 trail bike that is coming that will be a lighter and faster drz400e replacement. Looks promising for the hare scramble guys.
The 2010 motorcycles that I am most excited about is the husaberg 450 and 570 lineup. They are coming in motocross, dual sport and supermoto trims. You have to check out the forward leaning cylinder and lightweight of these bikes. FI and any option you can think of. Hardest part about watching the video is knowing that only a few hundred of these bike will even get close to North America and parts as usual will be hard to come by. I wish I had the coin to drop on one of these supermoto versions. It looks slamming for sure. This is the type of motorcycle that causes divorces.
As the year progresses with new models I will come back and update with news to keep
you informed. So far there has not been any new supermoto news from the big japanese 4 manufacturers.
