2013- Sudanese Oil Production Set Target At 922,000 bpd
62The most active oil producing country is East Africa is on the run to increase its oil production. An improved oil-extraction technique would increase its crude oil output by 400,000 barrels a day within three to four years, according to Sudapet, the state oil firm of Sudan.
The East African Oil producing leader currently produces 522,000 barrels a day; they aim to increase it to 922,000 barrels a day by 2012 or 2013.
Sudapet president, Salah Hassan Wahbi, is looking forward to meet up with the output of Algeria and Libya. According to him, he said, “If reached, this output would put Sudan's production close to the Algerian or the Libyan output”.
At a Global Pacific and Partners oil conference, held on Tuesday, he said the company is working to achieve this, with the use of techniques such as water injection in wells
Towards the end of 2008, Sudan had set its oil production target for 2009 at 600,000 barrels per day (bpd), an increase of 20 percent from 500,000 bpd in 2008.
