Contrary to popular belief, you can still find some quality domain names. I`ve come up with 3 free ways to make sure you have the fastest resources to find that great domain name.

1) First thing you should do is think of what kind of domain you are looking for based on your target region and subject matter. Once you have it sorted out whether you want a .com, .net. .org or other domain then you must stop at instantdomainsearch.com.  This is a great little tool a guy built that searches domain names as fast as you can type them into the search bar. This has saved me tons of time trying out different combinations of domain names - and from time to time pick up a piece of gold.  As you type in your desired domain, it does a WHOIS lookup in the background and displays seemlessly the availability of that domain. In essence, it saves a ton of time searching and waiting around.

2) Once that perfect domain name has appeared, secure it at one of the domain hosting companies.  But before you do that, use the free Google Keywords tool to look up whether or not the domain name you picked will be good for organic traffic. In other words, use the Google Keyword tool to find out if your chosen domain is in tough competition for the given keywords and the estimated value you will get per click on Google Adsense.  Once you are confident that this is the domain you want - now is the time to choose where to purchase your domain name and your hosting.

3) There is lots of competition for places to buy domain names. Obviously there is GoDaddy, NameCheap, Yahoo, and Netfirms. Word of warning - do not buy from Netfirms. It takes so much to get out of their contracts, trust me, it is painful.  NameCheap and GoDaddy are safe choices and if you want simple tools to build a starter website, Yahoo offers a great deal for a free domain name and hosting for $7.89 or so per month. This is really good considering that you get a content management system included that basically makes it unecessary for any experience in building websites. I`ve build lots of great websites with Yahoo and find them really good for statistics, support, and tools.  They also rank you well in the Yahoo search engine for hosting it with them. Almost instant traffic!
