Have you been looking for a fast way to lose 5 to 15 pounds?  You have heard about the 3 day tuna diet, and think it might be just the right diet for you.  Here are some things you need to know before starting the the 3 day tuna diet.

The 3 day tuna diet has become one of today's favorite crash diets.  Many people think that because the diet has a short time frame there is no health risk.  The truth is that when people go on this type of low calorie diet they are adversely affecting their metabolism.  By using the diet they are setting themselves up for later weight gain, possibly more weight than they lost.

Primarily this diet is unhealthy because it is essentially a starvation diet.  If you add up all the calories allowed for a day, you end up with about 970.  Eating so few calories will put your body in "starvation mode" the very first day.

The 3 day tuna diet has such a low calorie count that it is close to being what is considered a very low calorie count diet. This diet gives the illusion of lasting for 3 days, but you are actually on and off the diet for about a month.

This diet is so unbalanced that it most likely will not help you lose any permanent weight.  You are allowed small amounts of fish and chicken, some peanut butter, a few vegetables, and an apple for dinner.  You then end you day with ice-cream.  Clearly, this diet is not a healthy choice.

Refined carbohydrates which make up a large part of the 3 day tuna diet, have very little nutritional value.  Food cravings are increased when you eat breads and sugars, but so few calories.

There are so many diets out there. Some diets can be great ways to lose weight. Others actually eliminate healthy foods, and add junk foods. The 3 day tuna diet may drop pounds in the beginning, but in the end you will most likely gain the weight you lost back, and then some.
