3 Great Homes For Old Blankets
68Try these places to give old blankets and bedspreads
The kids are all grown up and out of the house now. So you decided to give their old bedroom a new and more sophisticated decor. Or maybe you moved into a small house with less bedrooms. Whatever the reason may be, you have a new dilemma now- what do you do with those old blankets and bedspreads that you don't want to throw away. Of course the Salvation Army or Goodwill are always looking for these items, but there are other charitable organizations that will welcome them in a heartbeat. But, before you call, make sure your blankets and bedspreads are clean and in excellent condition.
1. American Red CrossThe Red Cross conducts relief efforts all over the world and most likely there is a chapter in you town or state. You can call the office nearest you or the 800 number and ask if they need donations of blankets or bedspreads.
2. Homeless shelters Many need extra blankets and bed spreads. To make a donation, call the shelter for an appointment. You can easily find their number listed in the White Pages under your town name, or in "Community Service Number" section of your phone book. Make sure that you do not dial the emergency number.
3. Churches or Synagogues Many accept donations of items to help out families or individuals in a time of need. To find out if any of your items can be used, call the church or synagogues during their regular business hours.

That is so true! I find more and more people are wasteful! I try to donate wherever I can. Thanks for the comment!

It is always a good idea to donate items like these (and almost everything else!) to some charitable organization so that it can be utilized elsewhere. If it is not in the best of shape, donate it anyway! It might just help a homeless person.......or be cut up and reworked into some new use or purpose.
It saddens me to know that some people throw perfectly usable items into the garbage when there is such great need out there. Not only that...but our landfills are running out of space. So ANOTHER good reason to DONATE!
