Men tend to smoke and drink more than women. They also neglect to take medical assistance in early stage of disease. Some men are so busy with their work that they neglect regular healthy diet and exercise making them easy targets of illness. 3 serious diseases that are affecting modern men are:

  • Prostate Cancer: The gland below a man’s bladder that produces fluid for semen is called prostate. Cancer in prostate is one of the common causes of death in men of all ages. Typical symptoms are problems in passing urine such as difficulty in starting or stopping the stream, pain, and dribbling, pain with ejaculation, low back pain, loss of bladder control and erectile dysfunction. Treatment available depends on the stage and development of cancer. In general the treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

  • Heart Disease: This is the number one killer disease for men. It is also one of the main causes of disability. Symptoms of heart attack arechest discomfort, pain and squeezing, discomfort in upper body, arms, neck, back and shoulder, shortness of breath accompanied by sweating, lightheadedness, and dizziness. Treatments available are medicines in primary stage to dissolve the blood clot in the arteries. Angioplasty, the non-surgical process to open up the blocked coronary artery and Coronary Artery Bypass surgery to give new route for blood flow are done if the damage is greater. Lowering blood pressure and cholesterol can control heart disease. For that you need to have an active life, avoid smoking and eat healthy.

  • Colorectal Cancer: Cancer of colon or rectum is referred as colorectal cancer. It is more common in men over 50. There are various reasons of colorectal cancer, some of them are polyps inside colon and rectum may become cancerous. Fat rich diet, ulcer in colon and family history of colorectal cancer are reasons for this problem. Typical symptoms are Blood in stool, general stomach discomfort, and change in bowel habits. As symptoms are not prominent in early stage, it is recommended that men with colon problems and over 50 go for regular colonoscopy to detect the disease at early stage. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
