I was thinking back to younger years and remembered my time in Sioux City, Iowa. I was a troubled young man and was in a boys home there.

I would spend many nights drinking and smoking pot at a grave site. It wasn't just anyones grave; it was Tommy Bolin's.

Many of you may not know who Tommy was. By the end of this hub you will.

There will also be two others that died much the same way.

Just imagine where these three would be if drugs would not have taken control of their lives.

Tommy Bolin

Thomas Richard 'Tommy' Bolin (August 1, 1951, Sioux City, Iowa - December 4, 1976) was an American-born guitarist best known for his work with Zephyr (from 1969 to 1971), The James Gang (from 1973 through 1974), Deep Purple (from 1975 to 1976), and his solo work.

Tommy had a bad drug addiction. At 25 years old he died following a night of partying. Alcohol, barbituates, and morphine made his throat constrict in his sleep and he suffocated.

Here is two videos featuring Tommy. God rest his soul:

Janis Joplin

Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer, songwriter, and music arranger, from Port Arthur, Texas. She rose to prominence in the late 1960s as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company, and later as a solo artist. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Joplin number 46 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time,[3] and number 28 on its 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.[4]

As Janis' career grew so did her drug use. Her final night was a night of heroin and alcohol.

Such a great voice gone too early. God rest her soul.

Jimi Hendrix

James Marshall Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is widely considered to be the greatest guitarist in the history of rock music by other musicians and commentators in the industry,[1][2][3] and one of the most important and influential musicians of his era across a range of genres.

It is said that Jimi died in his own vomit from a night of sleeping pills and wine.

He was great and was gone long before he should have.

God rest Jimi's soul.

Drugs

Drugs took these talented people much too early.

They are not worth it. If you have a drug problem get help.
