3 best natural facial scrub recipes
78Like everyone else in my family, I have very oily skin by genes. Thus I have to be more careful when taking care of my skin. Oily skin usually leaves you a dirty feeling in the end of the day and your pores can easily get clogged by oil, dirt and cosmetics. The need for exfoliation for oily skin is bigger than other type of skins. I normally exfoliate 3 times a week by homemade facial scrubs to prevent pimples forming from clogged pores and to freshen and lighten my skin. I personally like to make facial scrubs myself from natural ingredients. It's cheap, it's natural, easy to make and you can find all of the ingredients right in your kitchen! Below are the best 3 natural facial scrub recipes I've been using:
Water and baking soda scrub
This is one of the best facial scrubs I have ever tried. Not only my skin feels fresh and healthy after using it, my blackheads are also gone after one month. Baking soda and water is considered a gentle exfoliator so it is safe to use on sensitive skin.
Instruction: Wet your face with luckwarm water. Add a little water to wet 1 tablespoon of baking soda and massage gently on your skin. Leave on for about 3 minutes and then rinse it off. I usually make a new scrub every time I use it, but if you make too much, you can store the scrub in the fridge for the next use.
Honey yogurt facial exfoliator
This scrub is very effective in reducing blackheads and nourishing your skin. Honey helps reduce inflamation and redness and thus is very useful in acne treatment. After using this facial mask/scrub, my skin always feels so smooth and soft. I use organic honey for the best result.
Instruction: Mix 1 teaspoon of honey with 1 table spoon of plain yogurt. Spread on your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with luckwarm water. This scrub is a bit messy but the result is very satisfying.
Olive oil and sugar scrub
I use this both as body and facial scrub and it has worked wonders. You should only use extra virgin olive oil and granulated sugar. After washing off, my skin feels very soft and moisturized (not oily).
Instruction: Mix one table spoon of sugar and one table spoon of extra virgin olive oil. Mix them well until reaching a paste-like consistence. Apply the mixture on your washed face, massage in very gently. Leave it on for about 2-3 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water.
I normally exfoliate my skin in the evening, after removing my makeup. Because the 3 above facial scrub recipes contain very moisturising ingredients, I usually go to bed without applying any moisturizer on my exfoliating days. Remember DO NOT exfoliate your face more than 3 times a week and you have to massage very gently. You have to be even more careful and gentle when you have acne, as hard rubbing will irritate and trigger the acne problem even more.
