30/30 Challenge on HubPages - Accepted!
63Joining the Hub Challenge
I have been contemplating and have finally accepted that I have to join the Hub Challenge, 30 Hubs in 30 Days.
There are several challenges
that have been issued and I have considered them. However, I don’t think I have what it takes to
write 100 quality hubs in 30 days. In
fact, I’m not certain I have what it takes to write 30 quality hubs in 30
days. Therefore, the challenge certainly applies.
I hereby decree - to all of my fans that you are empowered to ensure I write quality hubs!!
If you are of a mind, you can assist me in this process by making me accountable. If you think I am writing hubs that are not up to snuff, please feel free to let me know. In fact, I encourage you to comment and let me know. I hope that by asking for your honest feedback, it will keep me on the straight and narrow.
30 Days 30 Hubs Challenge
Why?
I started looking into the how and why of this 30 / 30 challenge on several occasions.
I have heard rumors that participating in this challenge often brings more traffic to your hubs which is something I would be grateful for.
Greater traffic may provide the opportunity for an increase in revenue. I am a doubting Thomas myself. But increase in money or not, I want to do this.
I just want to challenge myself to do this well which may be difficult with a full time job.
I hope you will join me on this journey, or at least part of this journey and help keep me on track. Pull me back if I'm starting to write gobbly gook. There are many years of accumulated knowledge, interesting facts, observations and questions that have been resting quietly in the back of the brain. It's time to pull some of those out and see where it takes me.
In Da rules and stuff, Ryan Hupfer talks about the fun of it. It's listed there twice. So, I am going to try and have some fun with it. Because I can, and because I think, if it's done well, others can have fun with it too.
Questions I have asked myself
I watched my inbox being filled everyday with others who
have taken the plunge and accepted this 30/30 challenge. I try very hard to keep up with them all.
But I do wonder, Is there a better way to manage the volume of emails? To answer this question, I had to find out if I could change my preferences somehow.
Which led to my next question, how will I be able to keep up with my fans? I certainly don't want to loose sight of what they are doing.
My solution - I thought - was to change my email preference to "never" and try to keep up with them through the Hubtivity button. But, since I don't want to give the impression of not wanting to know what my friends are all doing, and upon the suggestion of Ivorwen, I think I will choose the daily digest and the Hubtivity options. The best of both worlds I think. A manageable number of email and Hubtivity provides the opportunity to find other great authors I might otherwise have missed.
My next biggest concern is - am
I capable of writing quality hubs under pressure? I think we are about to find out, and I hope we have some fun doing it!
What are the
Rules? I don’t know about you, but I’m
not all that brilliant. If things are
laid out for me step by step, hmmm, yes I can usually get things done. I read the forums, and other hubs and as far as I can tell these are the basic rules.
- When Tweeting - Tweet using the #HubChallenge hashtag
- Write blogs and posts everywhere to tell why you are doing this
- Have Fun
- Use the pictures when writing your blogs
- Tag each of your Hubs with Hub Challenge
- Write quality articles
- Have Fun
- Post your Hubs in the Forum for best exposure
Where do I sign up for the 30 / 30 challenge??
You don't need to sign up anywhere. This is a challenge for YOU. You meet the challenge because you want to. It's a good idea to post your intentions and your hubs in the Forum. You can get answers and encouragement when needed.
Personal Challenge to Stay Focused and Get It Done!
Unlike most of you I’m sure, I tend to get side tracked
easily. There are so many excellent
Hubbers here and so many wonderful articles, that it doesn’t take me more than
5 minutes before I find some hyperlink in one of the blogs or forums that I
simply must read. And voila! I’m side tracked and completely forget what I set out to do. I could easily blame it on the age thing, but that's just not the case, at least not this time. There is simply so much here.
For myself I will have to learn discipline, ignore any hyperlinks I find here and limit my time on the forums until I get it done!
Ok, that was a test.
Did you pass?
If you are still
reading this, congratulations!
You
managed to avoid the “Hyperlink Pull”, which is one of my biggest personal challenges.
My Activity October 22, 2009
For the record
I am going to be positive here. As you can see from the activity chart above, not much traffic hits my Hubs. Especially when you see some of the others who do such great work here.
So, for the record, I have taken a snap shot from this morning. At the end of the challenge, I will take another.
Here's hoping I don't embarrass myself altogether!
Wish me luck dear fans! I'm thinking I could use all the good Karma I can find. :)

Gilo, you are the first to give me good Karma! Thank you!
Good luck, Duchess. You know I'll be pulling for you. I completed my 30/30 Hubchallenge in exactly 29 days and saw a dramatic increase in traffic (when I first started here mind you). One my best day, I saw my traffic go as high as 450 page views! Just do the best you can.
Good luck! Should you need some help, don't be afraid to ask (I might be able to help too).
dohn, my heartfelt thank you. I aspire to 450 page views!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the confidence. I hope I live up to it.
You can do it, Dutchess. I took the challenge and saw my Adsense double. Good luck to you! You have my support.
Dutchess - You can do it easily, and the quality will be right on top because you are a good writer. Gus
Judydianne and Gus thanks for the support :)
i really know what u mean....I too feel i could never do a 30 day challenge, simply because of the fear of having my hubs suffer in 'quality'! But I guess, it all depends on what u decide to write on...and one can obviously not be expected to write the most thought provoking of hubs constantly for 30 days; most of all, no one expects u to! So just write.... you'll always be one of my favorite writers here....! best of luck..x
myownworld....you are one of mine as well. I aspire to write as well as you do.
I will do my best! Thank you for adding your support. Love HubPages Fans, they are the best
Wishing you good luck Duchess. I did the challenge a while ago but will admit I did 18 out of 30. (that's because I couldn't find articles and I was a newbie, not used to publishing articles everyday)
Having said that since that challenge, there has been a positive change in my traffic. So, go for it. If you run out of ideas, remember to click on the Ideabank on the top of your page.
Good Luck :)
Good tip Lady_E. Thanks!
Thanks too for your continued support.
You guys are the best.
Good luck Duchess and I know you will write quality articles because you always do…
Nancy, what a nice thing to say! Thank you.
My money is on you Duchess! I know you can do it. Here's wishing you well in your endeavor.
Thanks R Burow!
Well the best of luck to you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and I know you will keep writing good content no matter how pressured you are.
The major problem I found by not getting the new hub emails notices was that hubtivity is always so bogged down with pages and pages of stuff. I spent all the time I have set aside to reading hubs hunting and missing most of my fave writers hubs anyway.
Well I'll be looking for them there fabulous hubs from you, eh!
kindest regards Zsuzsy
Hmm, thanks for your input on the emails. I'll have to see if I find the same thing happening.
Thanks for vote of confidence! I'll do my best to keep them coming.
I like the idea of doing a 30 day challenge, but it wont be right now. Best of luck to you, and on the e-mails, I am really liking the daily digest. One e-mail, with all of the new hubs listed.
Thanks for dropping in Ivorwen. Sounds like the daily digest might just be the way to go. Best of both worlds?
Thanks for your input.
Whooo hooo!!! Our P. Grundy is with us now! WE CAUGHT YOU IN OUR NETS AND WE WON'T LET YOU GO!!!!!
Good luck! Are you considering limiting your hubs to a certain word length (e.g. 500 words) in order to get a quality hub written every day? I'll have to investigate what others have done to write a hub a day for 30 days. Right now it seems overwhelming. I might start out writing a hub every other day to see how that feels.
Paradise, are you comparing me to P. Grundy?????
Won't let me go huh? You might change your mind by the time this 30 days is over! LOL
Thanks for the support my friend.
PWalker, thanks for the support! I have to honestly say I had not considered limiting the number of words. I think I'm just a wordy kinda girl. Here's hoping I can string them all together in a manner that is worth reading.
Try writing one every other day and see how that feels. When you get comfortable with that....come join us.
So you're telling all your fans you don't want to read any of their hubs. But in the same hub you ask for encouragement from the very people you are choosing to make it easier to ignore? Wow.
Wow is right. I thought I was a writer, able to communicate. Obviously I need to work on that. I certainly do not want to tell my fans I am do not want to read their hubs. I did continue with this:
"Which led to my next question, how will I be able to keep up with my fans? I certainly don't want to loose sight of what they are doing."
All I am saying is the email volume is hard to keep up with. I have to find a better way.
Jimmy, I would not intentionally say something that heartless (I hope).
Forgive me. I will try to fix the hub so it says what I mean.
The challenge is a great idea Duchess, and it will be worth your while.
Thanks Flightkeeper. I think so, if I can manage to keep my fans that is.
Duchess, You are a great writer I know you can do it :)
Thanks wolfpack. That means a lot!
I love to read your hubs! You'll get 30 in 30 no problem!
Godslittlechild, thank you for such a nice compliment. And your vote of confidence.
GOOD LUCK! I have total confidence in you!
Thank you Lisa Luv!
Good luck and best wishes Duchess...you can do it...be confident :)
Livingsta, thank you for your best wishes. Much appreciated
