With the advent of the internet more and more businesses are being created. In the corporate world where making a mark is absolutely essential if you hope to make any profits the logo is one of the distinguishing features. A good logo should convey the company’s message and communicate to the customers well. Despite the enormous benefits of having a good logo numerous businesses still fail to take great care in logo design. I have analyzed seven reasons below which many logo designers falter in when making their designs.

1. Logo design by a novice

It is interesting how new business owners invest a lot of time and money in acquiring property and equipment but fail to pay much attention to logo design. Most of them just outsource the design of their logos to websites that have cheap logo design packages. As the adage goes you get what you pay for and so is the case with logo design. Many logos look amateurish for a number of reasons among them:

-The business owner wishes to save money which he can use to invest on other supposedly important things like property, equipment and hiring of labor.

-By outsourcing the design to a friend or relative who claims to be an expert in logo design. Remember that business and friendship do not mix.

The above reasons will lead to a poor performance of your business as the logo will look poorly designed and so will be the perception by potential customers of your products. To mitigate against the above dangers therefore you should hire a professional logo designer in order to make your logo great and memorable. The logo will also have a longer lifespan and it won’t need to be redesigned every few months. But above all the logo will look professional and stylish.

2. Relying on recent logo design trends

Trends in logo design as in everything else come and go and it will therefore be prudent that that you make your logo unique. Of course following recent trends is he only way of playing it safe for a majority of people but this will not make your business unique. The logo conveys the company’s identity and keeping it unique will win it many accolades.

3. Use of raster graphics

Most logo designers use vector graphic software such as Adobe illustrator or corel Draw. A vector graphic is made up of mathematically precise points that ensure a visual consistency across multiple sizes. The other alternative is to use raster graphics software such as Adobe photoshop.A raster graphic consists of pixels. Raster images can cause problems with the reproduction of the logo. Using vector graphics for logo design is therefore the preferred method because:

-The logo can be produced in any scale without losing the quality.

-Easier editing of the logo.

-It can be used in other media more easily than a raster image.

4. Incorporating  stock imagery

Most amateurish logo designers download stock vector imagery from websites. While it is no criminal offence to perform such an act it can land you into trouble if you incorporate it into a logo.
