42 nuclear power plants
55Are we that Desperate
How many years has it been since the last nuclear power plant came on line in the united states?
Well it just so happens that some idiot wants to build forty-two. What a wonderful number, and exactly what we need forty-two bombs stretch out across the united states. Who think of this stuff, What kind of mental midgets are we dealing with? Oh I guess they have to justify the department of homeland security.
Whatever happen to the non intrusive sources of energy? I still remember the nuclear plant that the power company in southwest Texas never finished building and we are probably still paying for that. Now don't get me wrong I know we have energy needs, but there has got to be a better way.
This idea is just as stupid as someone saying lets put some more dams on the Mississippi, that's a stupid idea, the river has a mind of its own and it refuses to let you control it for very long.
Flood after flood the Mississippi has said no.
Well I can think of hundreds of reasons not to use nuclear power, and so what if everyone else does. One day they will have to pay the piper, hopefully it will not be us in that situation.
Now if I didn't know about liquid coal, or solar or wind or wave power, maybe I might be a friend of nuclear power. But I know what's capable of coming down the pipeline, better batteries, Fuel cells, etc. I can see the day when every house has solar shingles. We need to stop looking to technologies that are tried , tested and fell. You haven't forgot about three mile island, have you.
I guess my biggest fear is that the utility companies will take short cuts and leave our country exposed to dangers that at this time don't exist without Forty-two nuclear plants. Now if they had said power plants, I would have been all for it. But in all the prior projects greed has gotten in the way, and we the American people are the ones that lose.
Now if they want to build nuclear power plants. Find some island in the middle of the ocean and build all forty-two there, then string and connect to the grid on the east and west cost to transfer the power and call it a day. But keep it away from our country, haven't you done enough damage.

Do some research on the new generation IV technology. It's clean and safe and pollutes less than oil or coal. I agree with you on batteries for electric motos, and solar shingles, and I suggest LED lights. http://www.ledhomeplace.com/
