5 Best Free Sword Fighting Games

Sword fighting games are great fun to play, and its always nice when something is free! Take a look at my selection of the five best free sword fighting games and then pick one (or more!) to play by following the link underneath each description.

All of the games I've featured here are flash games, so you don't need to download anything or sign up for an online account or anything, but if you want a more in depth game and don't mind downloading free software or creating a free membership account then take a look at some of the other links I've included on this page too.

I actually found this one after having completed this hub and I just had to come back and re-write it to include Hero Fighter because I was really impressed by this free game. You can play this as a one on one fight between yourself and a cpu character, or you can fight in a large melee with up to three people all fighting together against each other and as many computer controlled characters as you want to put in as well. In multiplayer it can be a bit of a squeeze getting two people playing on the same keyboard let alone three, but you can at least set all of the keys yourself to make sure you have the best ones for your keyboard. Once you are in the fight you can actually choose between three characters - one who fights with a sword, which is the default player 1 character, one who uses a bow and arrows, and one who fights with his bare hands but has special throws and big punches. You can also choose how many 'giant objects' you want in each fight, such as rocks which you can pick up and throw at your opponents to do extra damage, and there are three dificulty levels - easy, normal and hard (which should be called bloody impossible in my opinion!). I really enjoyed playing in a big chaotic melee with loads of fighters, which I haven't seen in any other free games, and I was glad to see that the computer controlled characters do fight each other as much as they go for you. Definitely recommended.

In this free online platform game you play a Samurai who must make his way across and up the screen, jumping between platforms and avoiding your enemies spears so that you can get close enough in to kill them with your sword. It can be quite tricky in places, meanin that you have to keep replaying the same bit, but I found it pretty addictive.

This is definitely one of the best looking free sword fighting games, with really stylish Japanese animation graphics as well as some fun gameplay. It is a 3D platform 'beat em up' kind of game where you fight with swords, but the only problem is that unfortunately the instructions aren't in English, so to save you a bit of time working it all out here are the controls: ASDW to move around the screen, L to crouch and pick things up, J is jump, K is your ordinary fast attack, and U + I are both special poweer attacks. Have fun!

Ninja man is a great little platform fighter where you have work out which route to take and solve a few simple puzzles at the same time as fighting your way through a large number of enemies (or just running for your life!). It's great fun for a quick game, but it is disappointingly short.

 This is basically a zombie invasion type defense game where you have to stop your village from being overrun by 30 waves of zombie attack, but rather than big guns like in other games of this kind your choice of weapons is between things like sword, axe and light saber. Good fun.
