Applying for a new job can be stressfull and when you do land that interview, you'll want to make sure you can answer all the interview questions well and not put yourself in a corner.  Here are 5 hard interview questions and the answers that will impress the hiring manager.

1. Why did you leave your last job?

You want to be challenged and you want to grow with the company.  You are always looking for better ways to acomplish goals and constantly completing projects that are align with the company's vision and strategy.

The hiring manager wants to know that you are commited to the job.  They want to see determination and enthusiasm in their employees.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

You'll want to position yourself as loyal to the company and let the hiring manager know that you want your bosses job or somewhere vertical up the career ladder at that organization.

This lets the hiring manager know that you're planning on staying with the company and you want to grow with the company.

3. What was you biggest failure at your previous job?

You want to give an example of a difficult project or situation that happened at your previous job that wasn't successful at first.  Then you will want to explain how you either learned from the failure or how you overcame the failure to eventually succeed.

This tests your ability to think on your feet and be creative.  The hiring manager wants to know that he is hiring a bright person that can think quickly and speak on an issue.

4. How do you make your decisions?

You make your decisions based on the facts and data at your disposal and proceed with logic to make your decisions.

Hiring managers want to make sure you're making decisions based off data.  Quality data makes decision making easy.  The company doesn't want people  that make business decisions based on "feelings" or other unmeasured methods.

5. Why did you interview for this job/company?

The first part, you want to sell yourself and all the qualities you bring to the table.  You want to demonstrate your experience and how it fits in to this position that you're applying for and hope to get.  The second part is a great time to express how excited you are about the company and the accomplishments that the company has achieved.  This will show how well you researched the company before the interview.

These were just a couple of questions that a hiring manager is likely to ask you in an interview.  Make sure you study the company you're interviewing with and review other job interview questions and answers.
