5 Reasons NOT to get the Swine Flu H1N1 Vaccine Shot
96During the past 100 years, the H1N1 virus has hit Americans twice that we know of, and possibly three times if you include the 1918 epidemic which some scholars and scientists attribute to the swine flu.
The Swine flu was originally an influenza virus that was passed amongst pigs; hence the name swine. It is very common among pigs; it is very rare among humans. Very rarely does it pass between animal and human. That's the good news. The bad news is that once it does, the original strand, like any virus, may mutate and lead to new strains of the virus. The bad news continues when it is remembered that by the time drug manufacturers create a vaccine for a certain strain of the virus, it is usually outdated.
As children head back to school in the coming months, the chances of a renewed outbreak will be heightened. Currently, the swine flu is not as invasive as it normally would be because children are not "indoors" as much as they will be in a few days. Secondly, most adults are outdoors much more, contributing to a reduction in the number of cases verified. Yet, there are five clear reasons why the H1N1 flu shot should not be taken in mid-October when it becomes available for the first time.

- Swine flu - it's just not that bad, but it's still scaryThe Gilroy Dispatch2 days ago
I had this column all figured out. I was going to write a smirky beginning about how swine flu would be much less scary if it was called "pig flu" or "hog flu." Even though editors write headlines, I was going to suggest the title "Swine Flu: Shouldja freak out?" and proceed to firmly dispel all panic surrounding this disease. And then ... I freaked out. Pretty badly, actually. I was out of the ...

Thousands of people considered priority cases were vaccinated for the H1N1 flu strain, or swine flu, Friday afternoon during a free clinic sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Reason #1: A Military Mystery
Of all the influenza outbreaks in our recent (100 year) history, the Swine flu virus has been the leading cause. The 1918 "Spanish" flu was actually the H1N1 virus that mysteriously spread as the war was ending, and then conveniently carried home to the soldiers' native lands. This effectively spread the virus to the entire world at the end of World War I. Renamed "the Spanish flu," (because neutral Spain provided the world with most of the information about it) the virus killed between 50-100 million people worldwide, most of them healthy and young. Reports indicate that is started in the United States somewhere in southern military bases and was carried over to the trenches as America entered and ended the war.
The 1976 outbreak started with a soldier in Fort Dix, New Jersey. The virus quickly took on the name of the neurological condition that the vaccine inculcated: Guillain-Barré.
The current viral outbreak began near the border of Mexico, location unknown.
Reason #2: 1976 Vaccine
The 1976 Swine flu vaccination killed more people than the virus itself. Woah! After a young private died, medical authorities ascertained that 500 other military personnel had become infected and had fully recovered. Yet, the CDC and Ford Presidency decided upon a policy of mass inoculation that resulted in hundreds dying and contracting the Guillain-Barré disorder.
Reason #3: Target Acquired-children
The Swine flu has traditionally singled out young people. Most of them come down with symptoms that imitate a "mild flu" virus. Consequently, the vaccine is targeted towards children for this fall. Depending on your understanding of the flu, and what you believe to be the cause or reason of it, a very difficult decision is presented to those with children. The targeted population will be at highest risk at the time the vaccination is made available. As with the timing of the 1918-9 epidemic, the timing of this outbreak appears to be at its worse when children are coming back from their summer breaks and spending more time inside due to the colder weather in our hemisphere. Anything that targets our youth is a cause of concern for everybody.

Reason #4: No Testing Needed
Due to the coming school year, the government is concerned that the virus will spread and infect up to 40% of the population. They have decided to skip the normal testing protocol in order to provide the vaccinations by mid-October.
Even though some testing is being conducted, it is neither thorough or complete. And, it will not be finished before the vaccine is made available. Currently many family physician's are not jumping on the federal bandwagon and, "harbor doubts about safety of the vaccine or the danger the flu poses...children in particular-should not be asked to bear the burden of being experimental subjects..." {Washington Post article H1N1 injection (and spray) rejection by Rob Stein and Michael Laris, November 8, 2009}.
Another concern is the activating agents that are used within the vaccine itself. These "boosters" will result in more of the vaccination being made, but have dangerous side effects. These boosters have been banned by the FDA for all vaccinations, but are being allowed for the current production of the Swine flu virus.
Many analysts question the role that vaccinations play in the development of ADHD, Autism, and other neurological disorders in children.

Reason #5: Legal Immunity
The drug companies and government have now received legal immunity so that if there are any problems, side effects, or deaths, they cannot be sued. Seeing how the pharmaceutical companies will receive billions out of the fall vaccination program, it is equally stunning that they will receive immunity from all lawsuits. This means that there is no recourse if you choose to receive a Swine flu shot. You will have to accept all consequences, for better or for worse.

Useful info..
thank you!
The legal immunity thing is worrying. Anyway, this swine fu is milder than normal flu for most people, and the death rates aren't any higher. People don't go into panic every winter about seasonal flu, so people shouldn't worry about this.
Thanks for this hub - I'm trying to decide whether or not our daughter should get it or not.
Do not worry, everything will be the last
Thanks. It's useful.
Am just about to be diagnosed with H1N1 (waiting for the lab results). The doctor is sure. Nasty stuff. Feels like a train hit me.
DO NOT GET THE VACCINE!!!! REASONS 2 AND 4 SHOULD CONVINCE ANYONE!
BREAKING NEWS: 1 in every 91 - American children now has autism - According to the Department of Health and Human Services National Survey of Children's Health, 1% of American kids today has an autism spectrum disorder. That's up from 1 child in every 150, in 2007. And if that’s not shocking enough, these statistics don’t even include adult prevalence or those children who remain undiagnosed — With autism being linked to immunizations we must be informed, knowledge is power for change. That one child or grandchild could be yours. I believe in strengthening our immune systems naturally instead.
I guess the bottom line is we will never know what is the cause if something does go wrong with someone we love. For example my neice in law just lost her baby one day after receiving the flu shot. Everything was fine and normal, she had the shot, went home, didn't feel well, stayed home next day, started to bleed, rushed to the hospital where they couldn't find any heart beat for the baby. They had to do a caserean, baby was dead. I often hear of similar cases in my job of freaky things happening..but how do we know for sure? All we hear is "I wish I hadn't have done that"..why take the chance? I also believe 100% in building our immune system. As a mother of a chronic asthmatic child who also has several food allergies, this totally works for her especially in those times where doctors have failed her and me with completely wrong diagnosis.
wow, these are interesting reasons.
Its a very hard decision to make.
I agree with certain shots but this is not one of them, I don't feel comforatable with getting my child an H1N1 shot when testing hasn't even been finished, not to mention they have legal immunity with it! that's ridiculous, the media is freaking people out saying everyone needs to get this but we don't even know all about it yet, and the last time it was around(the virus) the vaccine itself killed more people than the virus!! As a mother..I don't friggen think so!! hahaha Thanks for the extra info though :)
my children have no voice....I am the deciding factor in most everything they do. I have a 3 year old and a 13month old....and I think about weather to get the shot or not....what if I do and they get sick or what if I don't and they get sick......why now? Its tough when everyone thinks you are insane for not doing it..... I will stick to my guns and take the chances...... once and for all... thank you for the info....
My exhusband & I have a 13 & 11 year old we have joint legal & physical custody. He is insisting that our kids get the H1N1 vaccine. I am totally against it. He says that he is trying to protect our kids but I am doing the same. I am also protecting them by thinking of all the possible long term side effects. He does not understand this at all. He has gone as far to say that if one of the kids get H1N1 & dies it will be all my fault & be ready to go to court. Has anyone out there had a similar experience with their ex? What to do????
Extemely usful info. I have been so torn about whether my boys should get this shot. The extreme pressure from the Govt. & media and the FEAR they use to control our decisions is maddening.
