The all-time NCAA basketball scoring leader, voted one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history, youngest player to ever be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. There was and is only one "Pistol Pete" Maravich. If you are a fan or collector of Maravich memorabilia, and you can get your hands on any of the following - you will be holding a piece of history that looks to be a very wise investment.

1. Game Worn Memorabilia

Very difficult to find, short of George Mikan - Pete Maravich game-worn jerseys typically sell for the most money of any former player. The easiest to obtain pieces will often go for over $10,000. In 2002, a game worn LSU jersey auctioned for $103,500, up from the $94,300 that if went for just one year earlier. We are talking big time money when it comes to "Pistol Pete" game used memorabilia.

2. Pete Maravich Autograph

There are 2 autograph versions when it comes to "Pistol Pete" Maravich. Upwards of 90% of his autographs in circulation are penned simply "The Pistol". A signed photo books at around $500, while a basketball lists at $1200. The "Pete Maravich" signature is more difficult come across. Most of these are found on things such as legal documents and checks, etc. Book prices for a signed "Pete Maravich" photo goes for $1,500, while a ball with the same autograph books for $3,500 - the highest of any NBA Hall of Famer.

3. 1970 Topps Rookie Card - PSA Grade 9 or 10

PSA (Professional Sports Authenticators) population report shows that there are currently on 49 cards that have graded 9 and only 1 gem mint 10 card for Pete's 1970 Topps rookie. Many of the graded 9's are bought and sold in the range of $2,200 to $2,500. In the summer of 2007 the lone gem mint 10 in existence auctioned for $15,000. If you can get yourself a well-centered PSA 9, you've got yourself a very nice, rare collectible.

4. 1972 Comspec Card

Outside of the Topps cards, Pete was featured in numerous "odd-ball" sets over the years. One of the most difficult to track down is the 1972-73 Comspec card. This card used the same photo as the 72-73 Topps card, and books for around $600. Get you hands on one of these, and you have a very scarce card. They are just very, very hard to come by.

5. 1974 Topps Graded PSA 9 or 10

After his rookie card most of the Topps cards are fairly easy to find, with the exception of the 1974 card in mint condition. The card stock was very poor that year, and the centering was an issue as well. To date, only 13 PSA 9's exist for his 1974 Topps #10, and just three 9's have been recorded for the 74-75' Hawks team leader featuring Maravich. If there are Maravich cards out there that are in mint condition from that year, and you can get your hands on them - you will have yourself a very nice item that is in high demand amongst Pete Maravich collectors.
