5 Sales Training Tips Everybody Can Use
When every sale is vital, how can you be sure that you are getting as many customers as you can?
Follow these Sales Training tips, and you will be able to improve your sales.
1. Know the Market
Knowing what is happening in your industry, and what new developments of products are due to be released you can stay one step ahead of your competitors and your customers. Never again will you be asked something about a product you know nothing about. You will also be able to distinguish between competitor’s products, and their offers.
2. Ask Plenty of Questions
Find out exactly what your customer wants, and what the product is for. They may ask for something, and want it to do something completely different from its intended use. You will also establish what they know about the sort of product they are looking for, and any budgetary constraints
3. Know Your Products
By knowing your products inside you, you will appear knowledgeable, and know the differences between different models or services, and the commonly asked questions. Depending on the products or services, these questions could include size, colours, weight, capacity, lead time, guarantee, maintenance schedule, installation cost, running costs, electricity consumption, resale value, speed and much more. If you don’t know about your products and services, it could be seen by a customer that your company is not very knowledgeable. Where possible try and have a “Hands On” session with a new product to see how easy it is to use, or to disassemble or construct. This will enable you to sell with authority.
4. Know Common Objections
You will hear many objections during your sales career. How you handle them can determine how successful you are at selling. What are the commonly used objections, and how do you respond? Do you always have alternative products in mind, or explain another feature or benefit? Can you negotiate on price, or delivery times in order to make the sale?
5. Look For Buying Signals
Knowing how to spot buying signals can help you close the sale quickly and easily. It may be as simple as waiting for your customer to agree that you have shown them the right product for their needs, and that they’d like it gift wrapping straight away. It may be a much more convoluted process lasting several weeks while details and contracts are examined in great detail.
Customers asking questions about the product or service you are explaining, are often showing buying signals. Questions regarding availability, alternative colours, price, or additional features can be seen as buying signals. You should act upon these, and not wait for the customer to say that they’ll have the product.
By following these Sales Training tips, you can help to improve your sales technique, and sell more, to more people. What are you waiting for?
