What are Random Acts of Kindness? in the News

If you’re ready to change your life, and perhaps that of somebody else, by doing random acts of kindness, there are some important things you need to know before you begin. Just follow these five tips for a life changing experience!

1. An important factor when you start doing random acts of kindness is making sure that you do things that are easy for you to do (tip #1). The reason why this is important is because you will lose the buzz that follows a random act of kindness quite quickly if the act has been too difficult to complete. If you don’t make it simple, then you run the risk of not enjoying the personal sense of satisfaction that comes with doing a random act of kindness. It has to feel good for you too!

2. Another important consideration for doing a random act of kindness is where you actually do it. It’s critical that you make sure it’s somewhere that can be seen / noticed by the recipient because if the gift of kindness is hidden away, nobody, particularly the recipient, will even know you’ve done it. If you make sure that you do it quietly and unobtrusively in an obvious or public place, then you’ll be fine.

3. You don’t have to announce your intentions to the whole world in order to do a random act of kindness. All you need to do is find a needy place or a needy person, and make sure that you do something that will benefit them immediately. (without telling them)

4. Instead of complicating your gift-giving efforts by trying to find something overly difficult and expensive to do and then falling short of the mark, try this simple way: put some money into a public phone and then leave it for the next person who wishes to make a call. In fact, if you make each act extremely simple, then you will find that there are many acts of kindness that you can do!

5. Have you considered an ‘ongoing’ random act of kindness? It’s not as difficult as you might think. What you need to do is arrange for to have the ‘act of kindness’ set up in such a way as to be self-repeating. For example – perhaps you could leave a small sum of money (enough for a cup of coffee) each week at your local coffee shop, asking the proprietor to select a worthy recipient for your act of kindness. (you might like to leave enough to cover you for the month)

So if you really want to feel good and make a difference in somebody else’s’ life then follow these tips for doing random acts of kindness and watch how your world will change. You only have to do it once – to know how good it feels!
