Things To Do In Surfers Paradise

There are so many things to do in Surfers Paradise that you could almost base your entire Gold Coast holiday in Surfers without having to leave! Although that would be possible, it would also be a shame as there are many other aspects of the Gold Coast than just Surfers Paradise.

So before I start on my list of 5 Surfers Paradise attractions, I just want to set the record straight. None of the famous Gold Coast theme parks are in Surfers Paradise, the closest one is Sea World at MainBeach a few kilometres away. So I am talking about things you can do in Surfers Paradise by walking to them. I am assuming you are staying at central Surfers Paradise accommodation.

Surfers Paradise Attractions

Getting back to things to do in Surfers Paradise, the most obvious one is to go on the incredible Surfers Paradise beach. The beach is part of the famous Gold Coast coastline. It is hard to know where Surfers Beach starts and ends. Needless to say, it is an absolute must to set foot on the beach and dip at least your toes in the water! Fabulous and free!

The other free activity that goes with the beach is having your photo taken under the Surfers Paradise sign! That's a bonus activity I just threw in!

Right across from the Surfers Paradise sign is Cavill Mall, which is the heart of Surfers. The mall leads right through to Cavill Avenue, past Circle on Cavill, crossing the Gold Coast Highway to the NerangRiver and a small marina area where you can hire boats, take a jet boat ride or catch a cruise. There are many activities and attractions either on or very close to Cavill Mall. But I am going to pick just two that are in this precinct.

Timezone which is on level 1 of Centro in Surfers Paradise is a firm favourite for kids of all ages. Timezone really seem to have the balance of games and activities just right. A 2 hour combo ticket will keep the smaller kids happy, whilst the 3 hour super combo will give older kids the opportunity to sample a wide cross section of the games and activities including a 15 minute laser skirmish game. It is excellent for wet weather too as it is totally indoors.

The other activity in the Cavill precinct is Minus 5 Lounge and Bar which is found at the other end of Cavill in Circle on Cavill. This attraction is probably more suited to adults, as you are essentially going to a bar, although they will serve non alcoholic beverages to the kids. This unusual attraction is an ice bar. BRRRRR! You pay to borrow a parka and spend 30 minutes sub zero drinking out of ice cups! Definitely something a bit different. Bookings are a good idea and kids are not able to go after a certain time, so make sure you check that out.

Moving on to activity number 4! A trip in the elevator up 77 floors to QDeck, the observation deck on Q1. The only way you will get a better view of Surfers Paradise is by helicopter! And this is more comfortable as you can enjoy a drink and snack or cocktail whilst enjoying the view.

Number 5 is not for the faint hearted, this activity will get your heart racing! I recommend that you don't eat anything for a while before going on this thrill ride! I'm taking about the aptly named Vomatron which is in Adrenalin Park, just a few blocks north of Cavill Avenue. I cannot describe it really except to say, spinning around on a big arm in a basket that revolves too! Not my thing! But very popular as an activity. Adrenalin Park has lots of other attractions to get your heart pumping, some more than others.

These are just a few of the things to do in Surfers Paradise Australia. There are plenty more Surfers Paradise attractions to be found on Gold Coast Australia Travel Tips.
