There are a lot of reasons to register domain names online. Maybe you have a business, maybe you have a business idea, maybe you want to start an online store, or maybe you want to get into the potentially lucrative business of buying, parking, selling, and flipping domain names. Whatever it is that you want to do, here are some helpful tips that will enable you to have a more profitable experience:

1. Make it memorable. Excessive creativity with spelling and jargon aren't a good thing with your URL name. Save that for your tag line, instead. Your website's name should be memorable so that people who visit you can find your site again in case they forget to bookmark it.

2. Make it relevant. If you can register a domain name that relates specifically to your business, this is a very good thing. Search engines love indexing websites that they can easily classify. If your site type equates to a word or words in your domain name, you're making it really easy for Google, Yahoo, and Bing to send you interested people.

3. Do some research. If you're getting into domain parking or site flipping, find out what the profitable niches are and find out what people are searching for info on. The next big thing out there could prove to be profitable for you if you're able to snag great domain names in advance.

4. Don't try to be a domain squatter. If you luck out and get something registered that happens by beating someone to the punch, they could sue you if they can prove you are cybersquatting. Don't try to go for typo's of big companies or for trademarked names. It's just not worth it.

5. Shop around for great companies to deal with. Not all domain registrars are equal. Not all domain parking companies are equal. Not all domain auction sales sites are equal either. Take the time to research your options, regardless of why you're thinking about registering a new online property address so you can find the best deal and educate yourself in a way that will increase your chances of profitability and success.
