Adsense is the best way to monetize your websites. While webmasters all over struggle hard to make some money through their sites, a few smart ones enjoy easy revenues using Adsense ads. The ones who have experienced it have provided some useful tips for those interested in improvising their earnings.

Following are the 5 ways to improve your Adsense Earnings:

1. Focusing on a particular format of ad. One of the formats that have the tendency to secure highest CTR or the click-through rates is the Large Rectangle (336X280). In this format Ads resemble to normal web links and people out of habit, knowingly or unknowingly click on them.

2. Design a custom palette for the ads: Design your ads with colors and patterns that gel with the background page. This will make the ad look like a part of the webpage or something related to its contents. This will tempt the visitors to click on them impulsively.

3. Adsense ads should be placed on the top pages of your site where people easily notice them. Proper location of ads makes a difference.

4. Choose lucrative and relevant sites for your ads. Arrange your ads such that it catches more attention than other ads.

5. Try automated insertion of Adsense code into the web pages using SSI (or server side included). You must save the Adsense code in a text file named "adsense text". Then upload it to the root directory of your web server and call the code on other pages using SSI. This saves time for those who work on automatic page generators.

Even though these tips are useful, the most important element is the substance of the ads. Ads should be unique and essentially related to the contents on the site the viewer is visiting.

These tips have been effectively proven, so surely it can work wonders for you too.

Great tips! I for one have never bothered to design a custom palette for the ads.

BTW, you mentioned in the second last paragraph that "Ads should be unique and essentially related to the contents on the site the viewer is visiting." What do you mean by that? Are you talking about controlling the AdSense ads?

Thank-you for these tips. I'm still a little mystified by it all.

I'm also looking forward to reading the answer to Wandererh's question.

This is interesting... Do you take the standpoint that people who click ads usually do so before reading the page content?
