6 Ways You can have Healthy Vision

We have so often heard the phrase that Our eyes are windows to the world.....People also say that if you want to know whether a person is telling the truth or not,all you need to do is to just look into their eyes...Eyes speak a lot about ourselves.

In our day to day lives, we take special care to take care of our skin, hair, face and body but we hardly ever do anything special to protect and take care of our eyes which are usually the first thing that anybody will notice about us. Barring the occasional eye checkups, we never care to divert much attention to our eyes....But did you know that if eyes are properly cared for, we can even get rid of eye glasses, whiten the inner portion of the eyes, reduce puffiness and bring a Healthy Gleam to our Eyes.

These 6 simple steps can help prevent common eye diseases and preserve vision, experts say.

1.)Healthy Nutrition

It is important that we take special care in what we eat, because it is our eating habits which are responsible for 70% of our health.

To preserve eye health, it is important to consume lots of green Leafy vegetables and Fruits...These include kale, collard greens and spinach, which are rich in lutein, an antioxidant that research shows may help preserve eye health and deter the risk of macular degeneration.Remember the most basic rule, the more color your diet contains, the more healthy will it be.

Vitamin A enriched foods like Spinach, Carrots, Papaya, Bitter Gourd Should be consumed in adequate quantities. Citrus Fruits like oranges and grapes provide the essential vitamin C for the eyes.

2.)Exercise

Exercise helps tremendously in healthy eyes as exercise releases Endorphins which are extremely good for the body and for the eyes. Certain eye exercises can also be done to enhance eye health, like rolling you eyes for five seconds at certain intervals during the day, meditating, closing your eyes while keeping your index finger on them for a few minutes etc.

3.)Protect your Eyes From the Sun

Sun protection is necessary for the body as well as the eyes. Prolonged exposure to the sun can result in eye puffiness and Dark Circles. Recently a study at Massachusetts University, showed that the suns UVA and UVB rays can have a negetive effect on the eyes, thereby resulting in an increased number of your spectacles.

Remember to wear sunglasses whenever you go out in the sun and apply an under eye cream of an SPF of atleast 8.

4.)Remember to relax your eyes whenever you get time

Always remember to relax your eyes whenever you get time in the day. If your job involves working infront of the computer for long periods of time, always take a break after every 30 minutes , closing your eyes for 5 minutes as well as stretching your body.

If your eyes begin to water due to exposure to dust and pollution or after sitting infront of the computer for a long time, cut two slices of cucumber and place them on your eyelids. Cucumber Juice cools the eyes and refreshes them.

5.) Night Care

At night apply some kind of moisturising eye cream under your eyes. If you are above 30, apply a eye cream which is rich in vitamin E and Retinol. Retinol helps remove wrinkles and puffiness from under the eyes. Never forget to remove any kind of makeup from the eyes, before you go to sleep.

6.)Go for frequent eye examinations at regular intervals

It is important to go for regular eye checkups every 3 months. Don't wait until some kind of eye disease pops up. If you wear contact lences take special care to get your eyes checked regularly. If after using a particular lens care solution, you feel irritation in you eyes for more than 2 hours, stop the usage of the solution, and see your eye care practitioner immediately, instead of just splashing your eyes with water and forgetting about it.

Regular eyecare will not only help you in protecting your eyes from diseases like cataract, glaucoma and certain anti-inflammatory diseases, but it will also give your eyes a healthy gleam making you look more beautiful.
