5 Ways To Stay Motivated On Your Weight Loss Journey
48
Here are 5 awesome ways to keep motivated while on your weight loss journey.
This list has helped me greatly during the first phase of my weight loss and I wanted to share them with you in hopes that they may help keep you on track.
Feel free to add to the list in the comments. =)
1. Private Journaling
I journal my challenges, thoughts, draw images, and include daily snapshots of myself. Why, because I'm a journaling addict.
I have many small moleskine books for my different interest; keeping a private journal allows you to reflect on your progress.
Keeping a journal provides motivation and adds a layer of accountability-which is so important during the journey.
If you dislike writing, just jot down a few one liners describing your day and that's it.
Create motivational pages that include images of physiques you'd like or a picture of that pair of jeans that you're dying to get into.
2. Video Blog
I'm new to videos. I started my own YouTube Channel as a way of adding another level of accountability and to socialize with other like minded people.
The YouTube community is great for lending support and encouragement.
You obtain subscribers as you add more content and they can become your accountabilibuddy by posting comments and video responses on your channel.
At first you may find it difficulty to put yourself out there in such a public forum, I know I did. But once you take the leap to create your first video it gets easier.
So far I have 9 videos posted and I've receive so much support, encouragement and helpful advise to better my workouts from my followers.
If you're not game to post your videos for everyone to see you can mark them as private.
3. Voice Recording
When I don't have my journal handy I'll record a quick note to myself.
I use the Voice Recorder app on my iPhone to leave words of encouragement or tell myself that I may need more resistance on a certain exercise.
This is great when you're actually working out. Instead of using pen and paper to jot down the number of reps just leave a voice note for yourself.
It's a quick way to record your ideas/thoughts and transfer them to another medium easily.
4. Blogging
Like the one you're reading now. It's just like a regular journal, but it's public.
Some worry that it's too hard to post every day and that they aren't the greatest writer--you don't have to be. I'm not.
But what's important is that you put yourself out there. You may even inspire others with your story.
You can take it a bit further and post more than your daily workout routine and what you eat by posting inspirational articles to inspire others, your challenges, or your goals. There's tons to write about
5. Microbloging/Social Sites
If you have a Facebook page update your status with your current accomplishment, or create notes on your profile page and have it serve as an online blog/journal.
Create a new group page and find other like minded folks that are interested in getting fit.
Set up a twitter account and let your friends and followers know you're busting your butt.
Feel free to post in the comments your suggestions for staying motivated!
Take care!
