I love Toronto. It's Canada's most multicultural city and the financial hub of the country. It's really hard to get bored there, so it's mandatory to cut through the crap and get to the good stuff.

What is the good stuff you ask?

Here are five great places to explore along with five not so great places to explore in the Greater Toronto Area.

1. The Art Gallery of Ontario

Recently renovated, this is an awesome place that could take you the whole day to explore. In the permanent gallery, it features one Canadian artist per room. I think this is a great way to learn who the major players are in the Canadian art scene and get a feel for our culture and our perspective as a nation.

Recently renovated as well, this architectural delight will please kids and adults alike. Kids will love the dinosaur and natural history exhibits and adults will become engrossed with the endless array of historical artifacts. It really is a great place to learn and get inspired for more world travel in the future!

You've gotta do it once in your life. The tallest "freestanding structure" (in the Americas) is standing right here in the Great White North. Rocket to the top of it on the ultra-fast elevator and catch a glimpse of the city through the glass floor.

It's just outside the city, but worth the trek. The zoo needs all that space to provide the animals with a comfortable living environment. The list of animals you can see here is encyclopedic, and animals from all over the world come to visit on a regular basis.

This is a bit of a day trip north of Toronto about 30-45 minutes. If you like jaw-dropping exhiliration on intricate roller coasters, this is the place for you. Kids also love the massive play section just for them. There's also an incredible water park and constant live entertainment.
