50 Tips to Get Massive Traffic to your Hubs and Blogs:Part 5 - How to promote your hubs to attract traffic from real-world (offline traffic)

The power of social networking has been always there, but it has not been so easy as it is now. If you want to earn money, develop good relationship, you must possess good networking skills to attract more people and make them as your friends. Once they become part of your social network, they would do wonders for you - as you would normally do to your friends. Marketing your hubpages is also very easy if you develop a goos social network on the web.

HubPages has fan clubs, but going beyond hubpages, you can follow my tips to attract more visitors and readers from online social network sites. Because, when your social network friends find good content (written by you), they would in turn act as advertisers for your hubs. This is traditionally know as "word-of-mouth" marketing. They would recommend your hub to their friends by email or by writing in their blogs or forum posts. You can not discount this method of hubpage marketing. With so many web services offering social networking, it has never been this easy as it is now.

There are two kind of web services that I am talking about here.

1. Social Networking Sites - Here, you can make friends and connect with old friends and share notes and messages. Ex: Orkut, Facebook

2. Social News Sites - Here, people submit news stories and vote for them to decide good stories. Ex: Delicious, Digg

Yes, what you heard is right, you CAN make money blogging. Not millions but a few hundred dollars a month. If you would like to know how, I would highly recommend this Blogging to Bank tutorial.

Section 4: Marketing Hubs with Social Networks

33. Form a social network friend group (Google Groups). Submit your friend's hubs to Social News Networks and ask your friends to submit your hubs. Ask the group to vote for the hubs in social news sites such as Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon. www.doshdosh.com/list-of-social-media-news-websites/

34. Use Social Marker (http://socialmarker.com/) to publish your hubs to all the social news sites. Make sure, you sign up to all those web services first. Use a common user name and password to all of them.

35. Write a good profile page (Here's my own example Shalini's Profile) to showcase your best hubs and ask the readers to sign up, publish and make money with HubPages. Ask people to sign up for your RSS feed of latest hubs. Wherever you are asked to fill a "About Me" page, use this write-ups.

36. Gain friends at the Social networks first. First submit hubs of your fellow hubbers (not your own hubs) and let them reciprocate. In this way, you will pay it forward to your friends and they will surely return the favour.

37. Pay it Forward. Submit hubs written by your fellow hubbers to Social news sites such ad Digg, Delicious using the "Share it" button. And leave a comment saying you have submitted to Digg. This will start a good movement and your readers will submit your hubs to social news sites.

38. Reconnect with old friends. Do you miss your old school friends? Do you want to reconnect with your past colleagues? Using the social networking sites such as Orkut, Facebook and LinkedIn, you can connect with any network by searching for a school name or organization name. In this way, you can quickly grow your friends network by the concept "friends-of-friends". You can showcase all your new hubs and get feedback through your social network.

39. Use aggregation tools. You may have a question about all these social websites. How do I keep track of all the things? Not to worry. There are aggregation tools that will give you the updates at one place. One such service is Friendfeed - where you can track all your friends activities at one place.

40. Join with like-minded people. The beauty of the social network is that they bring together people who have same interests. This is a new to get new friends - approach them based your likes and dislikes.

If you look at Orkut, they have "Communities". You can find communities specific to your liking where you can network with like-minded people. If you have written a hub on "photographic tips", you can show off to your photographic community rather than a "pop lovers" community. Facebook has groups, MySpace has groups and forums, StumbleUpon has groups based on interests and tags. So, you have the opportunity to market your hubs based on its theme.

A word of caution, do not ever spam with multiple hubs. Your aim should be to attract new visitors using the social network groups rather driving them away.

Hi Shailini,

Thanks for a great 5 part hub. I Googled "Hubpage Tips" and came to your site. I read quite a few other hubs on this topic but liked yours best because based on your fan-base alone, I know that you've earned the right to share these 50 tips.

More importantly, I find your tips to-the-point and easy-to-follow. Thanks again for taking the time to create this. I know how much effort it takes to come up with a good hub. :)

ps. I've also shared this page with "stumbleupon" and wrote a review on it to express my appreciation.
